It didnt say now but it cost 350 extra. Feck it if you lose the multifunction wheel over it. I think everyone agrees the 18" wheels are a no but they look well. I am not gone on the standard ones.

They have the "new" VW engines already - the 1.6 TDI is gone into it now and has the €104 road tax.

Both 2.0 TDIs are now CR engines - the PD has at last been killed off.
Not quite. The outgoing Passat has the same engines as the current Superb. They are, as you say, the newer CR engines with 140 and 170bhp, both in the 302 tax bracket. The new Passat has a modified version of these engines, supposedly a tiny bit quieter again, new engine mounts, and an impressive 2 tax bands lower for both power outputs, at 104 tax each.
That's what I meant when I said the Superb will be getting these over the next year or so.

I was kind of thinking the same thing aswell. I suppose the 1.6 TDI would be a waste of time even though it nearly 4K cheaper..

Don't forget though, the Passat is arguably handsome, the Superb is unquestionably ugly.

While the equipment levels are tempting it would always annoy me that I was driving a car that VW ensured looked crap to make their cars look better.

I kinda agree and disagree with you. The new Passat is very like the superb at the rear. I dont like the front of the new Passat at all.

Saw a new model Passat Estate while waiting for a bus this morning, looked nicer than the saloon (I do think the Suberb estate is better looking though).

Weird thing was that it was 10-D-37xxx, so either they sold a lot less cars in Dublin last year than I thought or it was registered long before I saw any other new model Passats.

    hi there

do any of you know of anyone who was "burnt" by PFAUTOS?

I ordered a car, was promised they give warranty but it turns out the "warranty" is from a UK company and garages here in Irl do not entertain it.

Also I arranged an AA Inspection of the car in the UK, I was given location of car on Friday last and the AA in the UK were informed. Turns out today the car is now not available to be inspected and I have no definite date when it will?

The car is meant to be put on a truck this Thurs and arrive in Naas on Friday or Saturday.

    Thanks
    M

You would be better of starting a new thread TBH.

To be honest, the VW dealer you priced with was a rip off merchant, and I'd bet that you'd do better any where else.
But, yes, the Superb is a better value car. Why don't you hold off for a few months though. Skoda are about to announce a new company image this summer, might mean a nicer grille and getting rid of the tacky green badge, and also they'll get the new VW engines soon, meaning €104 road tax.

The engines in the Superb are the very same as the new Passat. The reason for the different Co2 ratings are down to start stop/aerodynamics and tyres etc.

Is that the Sports pack "Red" (or Green - can't remember). If it is, don't go for it, as it adds a 3 spoke Sports wheel that loses the Multi Function. A couple of my driver specified the Sports Suspension with the 18's - looks very well, but can't help thinking it's not really suited to anything but billiard smooth motorway. Rough road package might be more apt for your area :p

I know a guy with 18's and sport suspension who says that its not at all rough on the bumps!

You'd have to give VW a lot of credit then to make any car look more crap than the Passat.

What do you get in an entry level Superb? Does it lack chrome exterior? Alloys?

No alloys but you get the chrome on the windows. Decent enough spec in fairness. Better than a C/L Passat.

I now unfortunately qualify to compete on this thread :o.

Yesterday mrs M.had to be lifted from the side of the motorway after our 06 passat highline "died"
Into garage this morning for the autopsy ............
Results as follows.1 no.injector kaput..€15/1800 to replace:eek: after i peeled myself off the floor i realised this is it, end of life for us with regard to car.
End story after looking all day.........A new passat is the only car we like cost to change is 23k for the 1.6 25k for the 2.0l.
Highline with cruise rear heated seats and a few other bits,i am advised that all the previous trouble was with the 2.0l passat engines hence my looking at the lower cc,
    advice...help.....advice.....

Did I read this thread right? The top spec (Highline) of perhaps the classic repmobile (Passat) does NOT have cruise control as standard? What a ****ing joke!

I wish I was wrong....The spec sheet is on page 1 of this thread.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,217 ✭✭✭moonshadow

The spec sheet and actual talking to three diferent dealers tells me that its BS.
The best i got today was 29k straight for a 1.6 highline with media pack and cruise or plus 1600 for the 2.0l.

The dealer I was with wanted 700 for metallic paint,800 delivery charge, 600 for parking sensors and 600 for cruise. The final blow was 900 for the sports seats like the ones you have yourself. I might try AL Hayes if I get a spin up that way.

    inc metallic....

I just checked the literature there and beg your pardon:o

Highline 1.6 inc metalic with media pack 29k straight

C.control added by them 300 approx (they said 280 or so)

EXTRA 2800 for 2 l (that was my mistake)

Thats leather heated seats chrome etc..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,217 ✭✭✭moonshadow

I'm not great at mental arithmatic, but €1,500 to fix the injector is significantly less than €23,000 to change the car.
