Please delete thread as am sure it has been done before, but will just say my little thing...I usually only smoke when I drink, (which I do a fair bit of tbh..), ..and with new years resolutions and all that...am still smoking...(was never a resolution to give up the drink, but maybe reduce the smoking, but as am not reducing the drinking...I am a massive FAIL!)

A part time smoker? as opposed to a full time smoker?

My careers advisor did lie to me!

Not a smoker myself, I have no problem with smokers it's their money been wasted as long as they're not blowing it straight into my face or smoking around babies and young children they don't bother me.

That last post was for admiral, who is the only person I have ever seen to put arklow as their place of living...anyhoo...am out of fags, anyone in arklow? the admiral, who I thought would be my hero, is now offline, a B and H to me is like a catastrophe, but it wud fill a gap!

I'm a smoker. Currently in the process of phasing out the cigarettes and replacing them with a vaporizer.
One box per 3 days now, hopefully 1 box a week soon.

Don't smoke tobacco. Don't like it when people do it around me either but I don't really mind as long as I'm not in a car with them.

Smoked from my late teens onwards, stopped when I was about 25. 20 a day max

I look at kids and students smoking now and I think "silly"!!. Probably makes me sound ancient but looking back they were a huge waste of money, for nothing in return

Quitting was easy really. Didn't use any aids, just a clean break. If people are trying to quit now, I think the financial aspect is a help

ex smoker since last week, using the e-cigs now, not craving real cigarettes at all :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,686 ✭✭✭Kersmash

    Yup, I smoke.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,272 ✭✭✭EverEvolving

I'm a whole week off them today, yeah! Not bloody easy but the tough part is over now. Just went cold turkey and behaved like a spoiled child for a few days, I was so bloody irritable and so hungry all the time, but been going for long walks so hopefully that will balance any weight gain.

Coming back to my normal calm(ish) self today so just got to avoid drinking for a few more weeks and fingers crossed I'll stay off them.

    Quit Smoking thread ---->

Ah no really, I'm trying to get a Tally Counter (see Sig) so I can count how many I smoke a day and steadily bring that number to a negative. I believe I will have reached the unreachable "negative cigarettes per day" mark when I start ttelling other people how bad it is to smoke and how they're killing themselves.....mmmm

Do you smoke your own or do you bum them off other people and tell them that your only a part time smoker and your too much of a miser to buy your own?

EDIT Single female 40 ? hey! give me a buzz babe;)

Been off them a week now. Was smoking maybe 50g of rolling tobacco a week . As time was going on i was just smoking more and more. And every time id have a cigg it would make me really tired for about a half hour. Feels good i dont get tired now after all them smokes, been doing the nicorette inhalers, but as time goes on i remember why i started in the first place, coz its so nice.

However next time i drink i wont be able to stop myself but i havent drank in a few months so we'll see what happens.

    Smoker. Trying not to be!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 339 ✭✭freddiek

If you're trying/planning to quit,my advice is just try to do one day at a time. You'll find that you won't think about smoking for hours

Course its easier for some than others. Its a mental battle. Once you approach it positively I think you'll be able to kick it

I grew up surrounded by smokers. My ma smoked, my da smoked, my granny smoked, half of my relatives smoked. And I didn't want to be like them. I'm proud to say I've never smoked, nor have I ever been tempted to smoke.

I gave up that filthy habit in or around one year to the day after about 13 years of poisoning myself.

I now pity smokers and feel very proud of myself. No more rattle in my bronchi and no more feeling stinkiness.

    Smokers = Scum. Fact

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 38 chrisxii

I don't like smokers especially with the smoking ban as they are all standing outside the doors of pubs and restaurants and such blocking the way and you have to get through the fog of second hand smoke (usually with held breath) to get by. Then your clothes are stinking from it.
Another reason I don't like drinking or dining with smokers are when they go for a cigarette you know they are talking about you behind your back.

    Ex-smoker. 9 years off them.
I absolutely hate cigarettes now. They stink and so do people who smoke them!
    I can't believe I ever smoked.

Are you so self absorbed that you think people are wasting their money because they like to spend it on things that you don't.

You feel proud of yourself and pity people who don't do the same as you, I pity you because to have an attitude like that is really pathetic and deserving of sympathy.

I smoke, I love smoking, I don't inflict my smoke on others and anyone who judges me because of that is a wanker. The only people I look down on are those that look down on others, ****.

fcukin hell, you maybe suffering from paranoid delusions or your "friends" are ar$eholes

oh I smoked for 16 years and have never touched a smoke since the day I gave up, hate the smell of cigs indoors now

I would never preach or be condescending to anyone that smokes because after all thats their decision, I loved smoking but the health benefits of stopping outweighed the pleasure
