    Smoker. Trying not to be!

If you're trying/planning to quit,my advice is just try to do one day at a time. You'll find that you won't think about smoking for hours

Course its easier for some than others. Its a mental battle. Once you approach it positively I think you'll be able to kick it

I grew up surrounded by smokers. My ma smoked, my da smoked, my granny smoked, half of my relatives smoked. And I didn't want to be like them. I'm proud to say I've never smoked, nor have I ever been tempted to smoke.

I gave up that filthy habit in or around one year to the day after about 13 years of poisoning myself.

I now pity smokers and feel very proud of myself. No more rattle in my bronchi and no more feeling stinkiness.

    Smokers = Scum. Fact

I don't like smokers especially with the smoking ban as they are all standing outside the doors of pubs and restaurants and such blocking the way and you have to get through the fog of second hand smoke (usually with held breath) to get by. Then your clothes are stinking from it.
Another reason I don't like drinking or dining with smokers are when they go for a cigarette you know they are talking about you behind your back.

    Ex-smoker. 9 years off them.
I absolutely hate cigarettes now. They stink and so do people who smoke them!
    I can't believe I ever smoked.

Are you so self absorbed that you think people are wasting their money because they like to spend it on things that you don't.

You feel proud of yourself and pity people who don't do the same as you, I pity you because to have an attitude like that is really pathetic and deserving of sympathy.

I smoke, I love smoking, I don't inflict my smoke on others and anyone who judges me because of that is a wanker. The only people I look down on are those that look down on others, ****.

fcukin hell, you maybe suffering from paranoid delusions or your "friends" are ar$eholes

oh I smoked for 16 years and have never touched a smoke since the day I gave up, hate the smell of cigs indoors now

I would never preach or be condescending to anyone that smokes because after all thats their decision, I loved smoking but the health benefits of stopping outweighed the pleasure

Have to agree with that. I'm off them nearly two weeks. They all should be shot.

I find absolutely nothing attractive about smoking and have always tried to steer clear of it. I'm not actually too pushed on the carcinogenic risks and think if my friends want to ensure that they go down that road in the distant future, they're welcome to. I'm much more against the horrible smell of it that (as a non-smoker) lingers around for days and the affect it has on fitness and the ability to taste and smell.

I enjoy having fresh smelling clothes, being somewhat fit and love my food and I'm proud that I don't smoke and didn't give into the ever-present peer pressure when I was younger!

Why is it that ex-smokers always seem to be even more anti-smoking than people who never smoked?

Our eyes have been opened and we were personally affected by this blight on humanity that is nicotine addiction.

It might be a psychosomatic thing that helps them stay off them, if you think cigarettes are bad and disgusting then it's easier to stay a non-smoker.

I'm quit 10 days now and at the stage where I'm thinking "ah one would be nice" but that's a slippery one and where I failed before.

Have to say I'm not noticing my taste and smell improving, maybe smoking didn't damage mine too much, I have heaps more energy though.

+1 I dont smoke anymore, but have no issue with others doing so. Good luck to them. I dont have that poncy "oh I can't abiiiiiide the smell any more" reformed whore guff of many ex smokers either. They're just buying into a cultural meme and a personal one to make themselves feel better. What I can't abide is the smell of BO, farts and stale perfume you get in pubs and clubs since the smoking ban. Tobacco smoke was a far better bet on that score. Plus this "tobacco smoke is gross" idea is pretty recent. You would have had few enough saying similar 30 years ago. Now you get idiots moaning because they feel they can smell it coming from a car two cars ahead of them in traffic. Mentalists.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

Bingo. The self hypnosis alan carr method*. Fine, whatever gets you through the night, but dont impose it on others or at the very least realise why you're doing it.

*never worked for me. I liked the taste and smell. It did chill me out at times. It was a sociable thing to do with fellow smokers. Actually the Carr crowd gave me my money back which was decent of them.

Smoking killed my grandmother, my brother smoking gave me a cough for months, I'll be steering clear of it.
