A first year you say - I would suggest you get a few like minded people together and go see Tim! Just needs a few people to kick start it all again.

    Tim sorry? :P

I have the email address list of all the Netsoc members that were active on a forum and would be happy to help anyone interested in getting the society back up and running organise an AGM.

Needs to be an active student movement though.

And alumni support (welcome or not)?

Alumni make the site more valuable and so on, but they can't have a say in the running of the society or voice an opinion at an AGM (valid students only).
Alumni assistance is appreciated in the form of members who contribute and Administrators who keep the technical side of things operational; but the actual resurrection and day-to-day running of the society falls to current active students.

What would you need current students to do to get this back up? especially this close to exam time?

It's not what I need, it's what Tim needs. The society was, from a technical standpoint, in a decent state. What wasn't happening was the on-campus presence, new user signups and so on.

Hypothetically you go to Tim and he gives you the OK to resurrect the society, the practical things that you could do this semester would be limited. You would need to hold some kind of AGM to get the new committee approved. Other than that, the technical side of things would hopefully come back online. Macrubicon is the one in charge here. What you would be doing would be bringing the soc back so you can try and do a sign-up day next semester really.

Once things are technically back up and running, there are some things that the Administrative guys, i.e. Me, Jim, Seaders, Cyrus and Scott could get to doing to try and finish the improvements we were working on when everything was shut down. However who knows if they'll still want to be involved? I am interested, but I'm also busy with my Thesis writeup at the moment.

There's also the option of reformatting a machine and starting fresh. New forum, new members, erase everything. It's not my preferred choice to throw away years of work, but it is really up to whatever committee exists.

I'm a current evening student in the IT Management course - I'd definitely be interested in getting involved and helping out.

PM me if my help is wanted :)

I'm sure plenty of the previous netsoc members would be more that willing to help out.
The last netsoc didn't shut down because of lack of interest from the members
Just lack of interest from the people who where responsible for running it :p

I'll be taking next semester off because I can't do or have already done the modules coming up and then I'll be back again to finish off my masters.

So I'll be around with nothing to do next semester anyway and would be more than happy to give a helping hand

Ziycon i imagine any netsoc that did start back up would be for current students only
I reckon our time has passed at this stage

still it would be good to hear its back up and running

I understand that but as the previous netsoc did, they could accommodate for alumni.
