Is it an idiotic rule that a two footed lunge off the ground that can break a leg is banned and punished with a straight red?

It's reactionary stuff to takcles that werent doing that much harm overall. From memory, over the last 10 years or so, I'm fairly sure I can remember more innocuous leg breaks than vicious leg breaking tackles. The guys makign the rules are tweakign everythign and creatign so much controversy that its deflecting from real issues that need sorting. They are ruining the game.

Was there a significantly higher number of broken legs 20 years ago?

Disgraceful reffing absolute joke. No way on earth was that a sending off said before 12 v 10 now.

    lmao:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Jesus, how can anyone argue against the red? Two footed lunge, studs showing = red.

But go ahead and blame Webb .

Howard Webb was deemed good enough to ref the WC Final .
After that peno decision I wouldn't rate him to ref my local pub team.

    Absolutely disgraceful decision .

He made some bad decisions in the WC final as well. He was bound to give Utd that pen, he has been telling players to go down once tackled/touched in the last few weeks.

I think you'll find studs down the Achilles can be a bit sore

Should be an interesting second half. Pool have to go for it and commit players at some stage. United to win by 2 or 3.

Anecdotally and without doing any research, I would say yes. Plus the game was slower and it was much harder for flair players to play. I much prefer the game now to my memory of it 20 years ago because of the extra protection given to players.

Torres is playing like the old Berbatov. He just doesn't work hard enough.

Berbatov has been working very hard this season. He runs after everything and doesn't let the defenders play the ball away easily anymore.

The whole united team are working hard this season. When they don't have the ball they are all working hard to get it back. The same can't be said for Liverpool.

never a penalty, definite dive. He took two steps after the contact and threw himself on the ground.

red was a definite red, retarded tackle from Gerrard, he should be dropped for the next league game and get a royal bollocking.

I would introduce Michael Owen at interval.
He can damage Liverpool further with Dmitar.

I honestly can't see how even the most biased of 'Pool fans can say the that wasn't a red card, tbh. It was disgraceful and TheProdigy was very close to getting his wish.
