Good games all. Was really fun.

3v3 sounds good for the next one. Mix it up a bit.

That was the briPhone, not the Doomcam!
Fun bit of trivia: I had my camera and tripod with me the whole day and totally forgot about them until I saw Doom holding his phone filming the final :pac:

Good fun day, thanks Dreddy. GGs to everyone I played. I must say, though, BGs to Blag. I can't believe I had to carry our team as much as I did. Useless. I will seriously reconsider ever letting you on my team ever again.

I can beat him up too for you after I am done with the 14 year olds.

Blindin' craic yesterday lads, great to see everyone again and to put a few more names to faces. GGs to everyone, especially Red for our Concept Matches before the tourney! :pac: Also big shoutout to Europe's best Chun Li, it was an honour to have the privilege of playing with "The Beast" - I'm just sorry I didn't do my team mate justice. Good **** Farz!
Bring on next week then, SRS BIZNESS!

Sorry XD I was on the phone outside so I missed the start of the finals and your desperate pleas!

Speaking of cameras... did anyone bring mine home with them yesterday? I was just going through my bags and realised it's not in any of them.
I took it out to charge it a few hours before the tournament started and was full sure I put it away again when I couldn't find any vacant USB ports, but it seems that was not the case :(

I called the XGC but they said no one had handed in any lost cameras :(

EDIT: Also, is there any chance on of yee Dublin locals could call into the XGC and have a look around? I left my bags on the floor under the 360 that was used for the finals and the desk behind where Doom filmed the finals. It may have fallen out during the course of the day if I did put it back into the bag.
    Cheers guys.

Cheers Doom, for putting up the videos so promptly.

GGs to everyone yesterday, it was really good fun, was glad I got out of bed and came down.

Very funny seeing Blag do all the legwork and then Cobelcog roll in and take all the glory!

I think I might have seen it. Was it in a little green pouch? Sorry I didn't take it with me, didn't even think :(

I sent my sister in to look for the camera, but alas it seems to be gone.
Guess I'll just have to buy a new one with my first place prize money from next weeks Inferno.

Had a great time and possibly the best partner, Chris aka ianmctetley. Sorry for holding you back man !
Few notes about the competition itself, can we make sure we have enough standard ps3 sticks before the competition starts. Also we need to do something about transitions back and forth between consoles, the xbox tv's do have a noticeable amount of lag.
Pretty disappointed i dropped the Speedhak and Foamy match but other than that great fun.

P.S: i let ryan win, if it wasnt obvious enough already :D

The tournament was stated as being on ps3 unless you use xbox pad, if you don't bring a ps3 stick you're happy using then whatever you gotta use in the end is your own fault imo. I had my dual modded TE in my bag but didn't want it used because the MK button has been crapping out on ps3, and I didn't want anyone having that happen to them during a tournament match. Anyway shouldn't be a problem soon since a lot more people will have dual modded sticks thanks to Kiki (also on that note, much thanks to Joe for going home and getting us another PS3 TE, you da man Joe).

I'd like to run tournaments in the XGC entirely on ps3 if I could, but I don't think it's fair on the people who use xbox pad (which is a fairly large number). Hopefully in future I can run the team tourneys at Inferno or something anyway so it won't be a problem.

what about using that community fund we got to get a xbox to ps3 adapter? im sure theres something like that around?..
That would solve some issues involving moving from console to console.

    Stupid Xbox pad scrubs.......

Just a thought, but could we bring a monitor to hook up to the xbox for tourneys like this? The lag on the xgc xbox TV's is pretty bad. I would volunteer to bring my one. Its 17in, nothing spectacular but could be done easily enough. We could then rotate this. Or alternatively, are their monitors in The Exchange that we (the royal we) own/have access to?

It could all be too much hassle as well but just thought I'd throw it out there.

Surely one of the many genius's on this forum could get a thingy for makin xbox pads work on PS3? Or am I just wrong!

Second the big up to Joe - You weren't even playin in the tourney and you went and got it - Legend.

It's been asked. They won't allow messing with the equipment.

When we had the starcraft2 tourney in there they let people play on and use their own laptops and stuff but thats a bit different to unhooking their tv's and using our own.

Besides, inferno's are held at the new exchange place so its only really casuals and occasional tourneys.

Having said that, two or three controller converters funded by the community would be a brilliant idea. PS3 only would be easy then.

I think azza said before that they wouldnt have a problem with us using a monitor for xbox.

There are no lagless xbox to ps3 converters, only the other way around (and I'm not sure if that one is actually lagless, but it's good enough for Hound), so if we did get converters it'd be tournaments on xbox-only anyway, which wouldn't help for stuff in the XGC.

Any community fund money at the moment is being given back to Dan until he's repaid for the monitors he bought, after that we could look into the converter thing (usually Hound would have his with him anyway, he happened not to have it on Saturday though)

We've asked multiple times about using different TVs in the XGC, I could ask again I guess. There aren't gonna be many events held in XGC in future anyway though as Kirby said.

What community fund! AFAIR it's pretty much all gone.

Nah, people gotta be responsible for their own controllers imo.

Like if we'd said "PS3 only" it'd be your fault you didn't bring a converter, not the organiser. It's just a pity the Xbox tvs lag so much it's a total jar in XGC moving from PS3 to them.

All the major tournaments in the world are one system only. It saves major headaches. The only argument against doing this (and it's a good one to be fair) is we're trying to attract new people... they don't really have that problem :)

But if we'd banned PS3, Hound mightn't have bothered... if we'd banned Xbox, Cobelcog mightn't have... tis catch 22.

I feel that for team tournaments where it's more about the camaraderie etc. too it was better to be a bit lenient. If it were a singles tournament I'd definitely be running it on one console only.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,878 ✭✭✭bush

Would you consider allowing teams to change who plays first in every match? Not as some counter picking tactic but just to give people a chance to play. Ken was too much of a beast on Saturday that I barely got to play :pac:

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,229 ✭✭✭Dreddybajs

Yeah sure, I can just make it blind select for both teams and let them change for next time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 800 ✭✭✭The Hound

Buy your own converter. They're cheap including delivery. I had to play on ps2 pad more than once in a tournament incuding finals (plz dont say ps2 pad is the same, I might aswell have used Xbox pad). Cobelcog agreed to a toin coss to decide which console as well and had to use a ps2 pad in a tournament.
We should be trying to keep away from those Xbox tv's as much as possible.

The tournament was run excellent. Great stuff Dreddy.

I dont get why everybody knows the tournaments being run on ps3 and the majority shows up without ps3 sticks or gets some casuals with xbox. I was completely dumbfounded when i couldn't get a game of casuals because everyone was on playing casuals on Xbox.

GG man. To be fair, I was lucky against your Chun. Was rusty as **** and it was showing with dodgy links and whatnot. Had your Ultra gone off after EX legs in the corner in round one it would have been a different story altogether!

Off to London this weekend to play some games with the Mordor Mashup guys. Gonna try and sneak some games of AE in Casino.

Will do. One of the guys who is going to be there just got back from Japan where he played some games with Itabashi, the Japanese 'Gief.

It might not look like he's a top player but Mestizo is. I guess it's just another case of the Japanese players being one more level above the est of us.
