Indo today, heads of state are making plans for the Queen to visit ireland in 2011 before Mary McAleese's second term ends. That will be a great help to the recession, the cost alone, and no doubt a great boost to the economy:rolleyes:

    annnnd heres the link:

    http://www.independent.ie/national-news/visit-by-queen-is-on-the-cards-for-next-year-2476516.html
A visit by Queen Elizabeth to the Republic is on the cards for next year before the end of President Mary Acleese's term in office.

Foreign Affairs Minister Micheal Martin told the Irish Independent that he still expected developments on the visit by Queen Elizabeth II in 2011 but it would not happen in the lifetime of the present Government.

"I think the way has been cleared for a visit, that is how I would look at it, and I would expect something to happen in 2011," he said.

    Cant wait...

What's the problem with the so called bickering?

I couldn't care less about the royal family but a visit here is pointless and just asking for trouble.

The people defending this visit are the same kind of Guardian readership that lambast christianity but think a mosque on ground zero is a good idea.

Who is this "Queen?" queen of England I suppose, honorer of the Bloody Sunday murderers? Head of the armed forces which did so much damage on this island under her reign?

Unless she has come over to beg forgiveness she can go fcuk herself. She should also pay for any security she may need too. Hope she gets a punch in the face.

i think we should apologise for the I.R.A.........now we are off :D

Bring her to Funderland...or let Cork feel like the Capital for the day and host the visit.

Although I wouldn't believe this is gonna happen until I hear Cowen denying it.

When I heard that the Queen will visit Ireland, I felt the same way when I heard about Robbie rejoining Take That.

    I didn't give a shît.

Pity they won't wait a bit longer. Then there's the possibility of Norris as president welcoming her over which would show how much we've grown up as a nation.

She would make a nice juicy target for militant republicans.

What good could come from her visit?

It's a load of balls. She's nothing but a ceremonial figure in reality and her visit should not be a state event which is paid for by us. I'd say the same if it was Ratzinger or Gyatsu. We've more important things to worry about than doing shit for the sake of posterity.

    All bark, no bite.

It's like the people who complained about God Save the Queen being performed in Croke Park and absolutely nothing happened. If she wants to come, let her come.

And if they do, there'll likely be war. Which is exactly what we want, right? Right?

If it means we get a chance to kill some British soldiers then i'm up for it.

Unlikely because MI6 agents will probaly stand near her, and she will have the Royal air force on Standy to start bombing incase she gets pissed off, and the British troops with Tanks will also come. so the IRA Will be the ones who have their heads chopped off

The IRA have decommission their weapons. And the other shower are happiest attacking off duty PSNI men & women, and unarmed soldiers collecting pizza the night before heading out to Afghanistan.

You're probably one of these that hate the British but then go off and support their soccer teams. Such hypocritical behaviour. Also who exactly do you think will support once there is a war? Nobody. The IRA will be by themselves pretty much and it will lead to countless innocent Irish casualties because some fuppin' idiot holds a grudge.

And if War does come, We will probaly lose within the hour, Because our so called defence force have no guns that match the british troos, and they dont have the numbers. Our so called air corps, dont have any fighter jets i read it on wikipedia, so we can use our 4 spitfires to destroy A Group of around 120 fighter jets only in 1 battltion. and the uk also have Nuclear weapons so basically, we will lose.

You do know we serve alongside British troops in Bosnia and Afghanistan, right?.

And if you by "we" your claiming membership of an illegal, and cowardly organisation well then shame on you.. But I'm guessing you wouldn't feel it.

Fianna Fail supporters will be volunteered as food tasters, so that an international incident won't happen.

Go back to bed you. There's not going to be a war, or any attack on the queen when she visits. People can still disagree with the whole thing without wishing for blood to be spilled.

That pizza belonged to the sons of Ireland. Actually I'd prefer if the IRA were to blow up Fianna Fail.

Nothing's going to happen because all the whingers will be on here giving us a moan by moan account of the visit, instead of being on the streets pointing furiously at the old dear's motorcade.:P

Thats idiotic, no proper republican hates the British people, but what their governments have done. I wouldn't hold Joe Bloggs responsible for Bloody Sunday, no more than I would hold you responsible for FF being retards.

And football is just that, football.

Pretty disappointing someone your age has such views imo. You don't get progress by inheriting the hardline mentality from the past.
