Hello All, This is just a friendly reminder to read the Forum Charter where you wish to post before posting in it. :)
Hi all, The AutoSave Draft feature is now disabled across the site. The decision to disable the feature was made via a poll last year. The delay in putting it in place was due to a bug/update issue. This should serve as a reminder to manually save your drafts if you wish to keep them. Thanks, The Boards Team.

Yay! Scratch-build is still "nearly finished" and shall stay that way for days to come - with an asthma + flu + chest infection triple whammy the GP ordered me not to do... well, anything really :o:o

This is my fault for making New Year's Resolutions. Every time I do, God immediately s***s on me :o:p

Yay, we've moved up two spots now!! :D

And I've been given another p6701...

Can't wait until I get upgrading to the new sandybridge chips, seen somewhere that the i7-2600k should do about 50k ppd!! It's confirmed to have a TPF of 2:04 running at 4.9Ghz

Yeah, it's looking pretty good. What prices are we looking at here (everything I've heard of it uses dollars :p)?

I could blame God... but I think I'll blame you instead.

Been trying to find that out all day, seen somewhere that said the 2600k will retail around the £250 mark. The CPU price will probably be around the same price as the dollar equivalent, it's the mobo prices that'll be the make or break for me.

Edit: What's this scratch build about Sol?? :D

Argh... I had the bright idea of a slimline watercooled alu mITX scratchbuild. Catch being that I didn't have the money for the WC gear after I bought the components :o So I was going to throw it all into a cheap-n-nasty plywood scratchbuild (costing a whopping €15 :p) and run it on air without mad OCing until the situation improved, because there's no SFF case on the market that can take an mITX mobo, an ATX PSU and a slimline optical drive :o

Since then every disaster imaginable has befallen me and the s***ty plywood box is still not finished, as it needs the filters, power switch, HDD bracket and trim pieces cut and then assembly, last-minute sanding/adjustment and then staining/varnishing :o

Sounds cool, I had a watercooled setup once but a plastic compression fitting broke and leaked a lot of fluid on my gtx260 which amazingly survived. I don't think I'll be putting water anywhere near my rigs for the time being

I've seen some wooden builds before and they take some real skill, post some pics when it's done!!

Oh, this one involves no skill at all! Coincidentally its butt-ugly... :p

Why oh why did I use plywood and not triple-ply or real wood?! banghead.gif

I'm away a couple of days that week, so a week before or a week after would suit me.

Right gentlemen, it's been a fun few weeks, but time for me to switch my clients back to OCN. For some reason, they think it odd that I'm not Folding for them. kookoo.gif

But worry not, I'll still be hanging around here, and you've still got my PS3. ;)

I was only ever in it for the short term as promised, I'm back to my usual set of maths and physics projects on BOINC.
