It is not. This film was made in the 40s and had a major Hollywood star in the lead role. It is set in the far east.

In the picture above no, it looks like Tyrone Power who was in American Guerrilas.

It is not John Garfield either so that rules out Pride Of the Marines , so I am lost

Neither of those pictured are high up in the cast. The film is set in the same arena as Merrill's marauders, it was made in 1945.

B is Monsieur Klein, is A originally in colour ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,236 ✭✭✭Tomohawk

Correct Morlar A is "Monsieur Klein"

    Nope A is in B/W...

ps I've run out of films at this stage :D

Perhaps we should do a quiz of ww2 weapon pics next.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,236 ✭✭✭Tomohawk

A is B/W film, I would imagine colour film was sparse at the time in the country of production.

Name the weapon, name the country who made it, that kind of quiz.

I think we should keep this one for a movie thread, there was a seperate trivia quiz one but it got quite technical. Besides there are lots more movies out there, (also ones which are related in some way). Still don't know what A is though ! Does A have a connection to Leningrad ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,236 ✭✭✭Tomohawk

It's a famous Russian film, the person in the middle is the central character...

Don't think it's to do with Lenningrad but I could easily be wrong.

The only other one I can think of is 'The Battle of Stalingrad ' made just immediately after the war

Made in the 1960s by one of Russia's greatest directors. It's one of his very early films. I think I saw it on RTE Network 2 in the early 1980s when they used to show classic foreign films...
