    Guys,

Anyone buy any of the reasonably priced scopes on Ebay.co.uk <£100 ?
Saw some leapers and nikon sterling scopes which may suit an air rifle.
Do these stand up or are they seconds or immitation?

    cheers.

    P.S Any ebay shops recommended?

Never bought a scope off ebay but the next scope I buy is coming from here
    http://www.opticsplanet.com/

    These guys prices are SAVAGE.
For example a Bushnell Dusk & Dawn 6-18x50mm in Ireland will cost €330 yoyo but at opticsplanet it only cost $119USD plus about $60 for postage.

I would check them out instead of ebay.

@ session savage. You will most likely have to pay VAT as well before you can collect your package but still a great saving! Dave

I've bought a good few scopes off Ebay, but they were all second hand. I was Very happy with every one of them. My mate bought a Simmons Aetec off it yesterday for only £80...

If you look at the country of origin for most of these optics its china or singapore. I don't think i'd be trusting my card details there. Not trying to be paranoid like my dad (he actually thought people would be watching him through my camera phone on the internet) but these are the people who nearly brought down google and amazon. Besides, i doubt its cheaper to get a zeiss scope from there as it is from germany imo. Try going into a shop and asking him if he has any 2nd hand ones. I picked up a Nikko Sterling 4.5 - 14 x 50 for 160 yoyo's. At first i found it hard to see the reticle at night with the lamp, but through practice its now no issue. The only thing i think the scope is missing is a slightly higher mag for scanning distances (and so i can put it on my next upgrade) but for my .22lr CZ its perfect. Crystal clear lenses and 1/8 of an inch click at 100 adjustment so very accurate after a good zero.

I did buy a scope off the bay and it was as good as new but still secondhand.

Try airgunbbs.com in the optics for sale section. You will have to sign up but there some very good deals to be got there.

Bought two scopes off Ebay in the past, a $50 (inc deliver :D ) Simmons Blazer that done very well when I had my .22lr. Also a 4.5-14x50 Leupold VxIII that I since sold. Nothing wrong with either scope. I would make sure to buy from trusted sellers with very good feedback though.

Ebay use paypal so companys cant get your card details, also if your worried bout that kind of thing a 3V card is great. You pay for a voucher in a shop (like getting phone credit) and they send you a credit card number valid for 3months to the value of the voucher you bought..

Back on topic, i bought a simmons scope for use on a .22 from ebay and it works great. cost 80quid and came from england i think

I know 2 lads that bought scopes off ebay and had trouble with them but in my opinion promlem was with the scopes not buying off ebay. both were from hong kong and one claimed 24x zoom for 20 quid so i wasnt really surprised at the result. not 100% but think it was a tasco or at least supposed to be a tasco... not sure about the other one.

i bought a leupold VX11 3-9x 50 for 250 euro delivered for my .243 and cant fault it, seen the same scope in a shop here over 400 so savings are there to be made but i think the main thing is to stick with a known brand scope and reputable sellers with very good feedback

I've seen a lot of fellas write about engaging targets out to 400 m, what sort of magnification would you need to do that safely? Would x 9 be enough?

I have the same leupold, got it for €280 from local RFD. Grand scope, used it on my first stalking rifle until I upgraded to Zeiss :D
