Star Wars:The Force Unleashed 2 problems.

Hey lads and ladies, first post here so be gentle.

I've a problem you may be able to help me with. I rented out the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 game for the PS3. I put it into the console and it done the software update thing that some games do (the last time was Assassin's Creed 2).

Anyway, all done and i started the game. Was having a good old time when 10 minutes into the game it froze. The music played away in the backrround, but the controller would not let me do anything including turn off the console. I turned it off using the off button then switched it off at the back then off at the socket on the wall. Left for a few minutes and turned everything back on.

Started the game again and played away for 15-20 minutes then it froze again. Music plaing, but no movement. Evertime i tried to start again it would play for so long then freeze. I noticed after each time the amount of play i got before it would stall was getting shorter and shorter.

I consulted a few forums about this issue and i found a few in the states and most every user was having the same or similar with this game. A lad posted a remedy and i used it. Turns out there was corruption caused by the game so i followed the instructions and done a file restoration. Afterwards i put the game back in and played away for about 40 minutes. Just as i was getting into it, the bloody thing froze up again.

I thought my firmware/software neded updating. I do not have the console connected to the internet (lack of service where i live) so i followed the online instructions as supplied by the Sony Playstation website. Got it all onto a USB storage device and inserted it into the console. Nothing. Downloaded again checking each step as i went and tried again. Nothing. The console is not finding the update.

To be sure my console is not messed up i tried 7 different games i have here and all worked perfectly and never froze. My nephew played one for 3.5 hours without a bother.

The only other time i had this was when i got FIFA10. Although i never tried to fix it i just traded for a different game.


I'm at my wits end with this. It is only this game that will not play and because it won't i want to play it more.

Has anyone experienced this or any suggestions as to solutions. Remember i have not got direct access to the internet through the console. My Playstation version seems to up to date. All other games work.

Did you clean the disk?
I'd bring it back and get a different copy of the game.

The disc is clean and its the second copy as i returned the first. I keep the console pretty much spoless with regular cleaning with air line, etc.

As mentioned its only this particular game, and judging from comments on others sites, its a recurring probelm. My only concern is its damaged my console.
