Im so disgusted about this! I hope this never happens in our country where I feel as though we have a very compassionate, respecting population!
I am really shocked at this! I feel so bad for those kids and their families!

They buried the rest of the remains in a giant pit which they marked with an inverted cross topped with a dead cat. Investigators say the sect was formed in 2006 and gleaned its knowledge of Satanism from the Internet, initially killing cats and dogs before graduating to homicide.

The case has shocked inhabitants of the historic city of Yaroslavl some 150 miles north-east of Moscow which is one of Russia's 'Golden Ring' tourist destinations and better known for its beautiful churches and monasteries than grisly ritual killings.

The defendants' young age - four of the accused were under eighteen at the time of the murders - and the sheer cruelty of their crimes combined with the fact that none of them came from poor families has left many locals struggling to understand their motives.

The case is being held behind closed doors but local media say all seven defendants admit their guilt. They are officially charged with murder, theft and the desecration of human remains.

They would typically be jailed for life but the fact that four of the defendants were minors at the time means they are likely to get off more lightly.

Between this and the report a few weeks ago about treatment of enlisted men in the army there I'm beginning to wonder is their respect for human life gone up all that much from the dark days of the USSR.

People can trivialize everything but unless we have a moral upholding, we could lose members of our family just like that!
Unfortunately, there is no psychological test done to determine potential killers/rapists etc.
Im sure it would cost a lot to determine who is a potential risk but in my opinion, saving a victim is worth more than the cost!

Satanism is not the problem - bad people do bad things then justify it with their belief. Religious groups have been doing it since religious beliefs came into existance.

Killing and torture based on faith is nothing new, worse has been carried out in the name of other "gods" too. And on a much larger scale.

Yes a sad story, but nothing to get too hysterical about and nothing unheard of before.

Leave the suspect child in a room with some adorable kittens and see if they show some inclination towards cruelty.

I fed my cat and dog an hour before reading that story. I have a cat to kill rats and a dog because i think they have great personality, and I was damn horrified.
