What are your goals for 2011??

Just seen the thread on goals for this year and how they panned out.

Here's one for next year. I'll kick it off.

Well first, no more shoulder problems, work in progress at the moment.

    Then:
Snatch bodyweight which sometime next year should be around 75-80kg.
    C&J 100kg.

I don't know how realistic those are but no point in aiming for something that's not going to be hard to reach.

Secondary to those would be a 150kg squat at some point and maybe a bodyweight press. Also deadlift 170, just because of that thread, but might go for that next week or so.

    That's it I think.

As I said in the other thread, I'd like to deadlift or Squat 200kg by the end of the year. Probably Squat as I at least have some competence in that lift.

100kg bench would be a nice modest short term goal for when I start actually benching again.

100kg Power clean at some stage.

Maybe enter a Power Lifting competition, if any still exist.

Probably not learn to snatch properly.

If I can put on five kilos this year without gaining fat I'll be thrilled.

That said, I'm new to this, and I'm not sure if that's a modest or an ambitious goal.

    100kg snatch

    120kg clean and jerk

Whatever back/front squat is required to reach these.

Whatever legs are required to reach the above

    Press 90kg

    push-press over 100

Might run at some point too... probably not though.

    bench 180
    squat 220
    deadlift 272.5

    have done
    bench 170
    squat 200
    deadlift 250

more conditioning (bag work, threadmill sprints)

    get some calves :)

My number 1 priority is the same as last year: no visits to a physio. 2010 is my first year since 2005 knee injury free so I'd like to keep that going.

    Other than that:

    Deadlift 200kg.
    Squat something around 170-180.
Fine tune benching technique and start to actually bench properly. Stupid long arms.
Lose some flab without impacting strength gains.

My 2 week old son might have an impact on all this, so we'll see.

To have as much ABS as transform that it necessitates pulling down the shorts a little in youtube videos to fully display them

    Better shave the pubes.

Great to see a thread on possibly one of the most important and motivational aspects of good nutrition and health. I spend a lot of time on these so thought I'd give some tips on how to structure goals.

1/ You should have goals for every month, every week, day and longer term every 6 months and even a years time! That means having 5, 10 or even 20 going at once.

2/ They should be specific and time orientated wherever possible. For example: - I will lose xkg of body fat by the xth of month.

3/ They should be realistic. If conventional wisdom tells you that losing 1% BF a month is good going wanting to achieve 3% is just silly.

4/ Written as if they have happened. - I am losing weight...I am gaining muscle at a rate of......by the xth of month I will of lost xkg of body fat...

5/ They are only goals. If you miss one or dont achieve it. Just adjust it and learn.

6/ WRITE THEM DOWN! and then put them somewhere where you will read them every day. Positivley reinforce what you want and make you have a plan to achieve it.

7/ Establish a reward for achieving a goal like a new item of clothing etc.

A typical goal for me would read something like: -

I am so happy that by the 15th of January 2011 I have achieved a body fat percentage of 14 and a weight of 78kg. I look and feel great!

Before you all cringe (like I first did) there are very valid reasons why goals that are written like this AND work. Try them out and it's a topic that I would recommend that everyone reads up on to help maintain long term motivation and of course get the results you all want.

    1) Get calves
    2) Get Abs
    3) Add to bench at least 20 kg ( 120kg @ 10 reps)

    Not so important goals:

    Put 100kg overhead (ambitious)
    Bench 115 kg paused
    Get to 80kg lean
    Get explosive, sprints jumps etc

Also, this thread is way too early.

And I wanna squat > 250kg raw, not have my pec tear to bits when I'm benching, pull 300kg, beat Henners at some stuff, chop Karla's ego down to size, put L on a diet and get Drifter's squat and deadlift over 200kg.

Sorry Dave, I meant I don't like the odds of getting decent calves. If you haven't got them already squatting 200kg, it might be a struggle. But sure you probably know this.

    Deadlift - 190
    Press - 55

Would like to get these up to 160, 100, 220 and 70 respectively.

My goal is pretty simple, get fully back into my training program as after my holiday in july i've been slcaking big time and the belly weight that i spent nearly a year loosing has come back, im quite happy with the progrees ive made on my upper body and legs but the mid-riff needs serious work, time to reduce the amount of lager consumed and correct the diet.

Other than that the goals are the same as always, keep increasing the muscle mass and fitness levels

I would like to see where I am at end of december before commiting, but:

I aim to have perfect form in all my lifts and presses, going to have to talk to a pro about this.

    Then hopefully I can get:

    Bench: ^120kg

    DL: 200kg

    Squat: 150kg (terribly weak legs:()

All of these are very achievable, however its my form that I am most determined to improve.

A year being a long time for me (only started regular since <6 months ago) I'm gonna at least intend on the following:

    Start using a belt
    Start testing my 1RMs
    Squat 200kg
    Deadlift more than 200kg
    Bench 100kg or more
Learn Olympic lifts, get decent at them
    Lose loads of bodyfat
    Get sets of >10 chinups
    Have a decent row
Be able for loads of dips

    Still weigh above 90kg
    Get calves
    Get traps and/or a neck

Get even half a clue about BJJ
Get decent at Muay Thai and MMA

    Continue my lifelong never-been-injured run.

That's about all, I think. Hopeful for the year ahead

By the end of 2011 I will have achieved the following in competition:
    • Squat 165kg
    • Bench 110kg
    • Deadlift 200kg

    for a 475kg total at <83kg.

If I don't --> you can internet laugh.

Where am I pulling these numbers from? --> Estimation of 5 competitions during 2011 in which I'll increase my sq/bp/dl by 5kg/2.5kg/5kg per comp.

edit - for reference 140/97.5/175 at bodyweight 81.9kg in late Nov 2010.

You're barking up the wrong tree if you're primary method of calf training is "squats"...

Goals for 2011, not really numbers based goals:

    1) Guns + abs for summer.

I currently have one ab, I wouldn't mind having a couple more.

I don't think a 700kg raw powerlifting total at <100kg is too much to ask for either. Something like 265-270/155-160/270-280.

And as for chopping Karla's ego down to size, I also want to bulk it up to the point where she'll finally agree to compete in a PL comp.

And a double bodyweight singly ply bench outta Drifter too although that's more like a 6 month goal.

    My goals for 2011:

    Get bodyweight down to 90kg

    20 BW pull ups
3 pull ups with 35kg added
    230kg Deadlift
    130kg bench
    180kg squat (probably be a good/bad morning)
    100kg power clean and jerk
60 push ups in a min
40 inverted rows in a minute
    550m spider test
total over 525kg raw at 90kg BW

I want to beat Hanley at something, anything
