The It in the place has been a disaster recently. There was a brilliant IT running things before the virus trouble. He left suddenly. There was a rumour that he caught someone fairly senior accessing porn. Next thing, no more was heard of him. They won't pay the money to get someone who is properly qualified and are relying on muddling through.
The guy is married so I think I might go out adn have some people in the background.

LOL so they say they will fire people for using the internet for anything but work. Yet the rumor (and its just that) is the last IT guy went AWOL for catching some manager surfing porn? Classic.

Them not wanting to go out and secure their network properly is not your problem.

Any way ignoring the companies idiotic policy about their network. You should not go for this drink. You should go to either HR or this guys Boss. If the purpose of the drink is to talk about minor misuse of the internet well then it should be done in the office and on office time and with records kept.

Although if you do insist on going for the drink the only person I would bring with you is his wife.

It depends on the OP's situation.

I found myself in a situation where a female member of staff, senior, kept making sexual passes at me in my work. The person was in the company an awful long time and as a newbie starting out in the working world, I was advised by a friend who works in the HR sector not to take it further as it would be her word against mine and it could have lead to me having a black mark against my name. I left the company soon after.

Definitely go to the higher person above him and explain what you did.

Most internet usage policies in business state that internet usage for personal interest be kept at a minimum and does not interfere with work.

Rarely do businesses enforce a strict "no internet" policy and even so the worst you should get is a slap on the wrist or a written warning, definitely not a sacking offence. Even ask the IT guy about the policy if you're not sure.

If you think he's using this against you then strip it off him immediately, don't let him put a spin on the story.

She has decided that she is going to go for that drink, despite getting excellent advice on here.

She cant stand up for herself, simple as. She is frightened to loose her job. Fair enough. But if she goes for the drink, it isnt going to get any better, despite her plan. What happens when he asks her again or makes another pass to go further? Where is the limit here?

No means no girl. And you better start using it.

Just give him a blowjob in the office before you leave, that way he'll get what he wants straight away and you'll have the evening free for yourself.

If posters have no helpful and constructive advice to offer the OP, don't bother posting as unhelpful posting may result in a ban.

    Many thanks
