    yes you need a safe for an air rifle. You will have to put a deposit on a rifle before you apply, the dealer will then give you all the relivent info ie seriel no, make/model of you rifle. all this goes on the application. on the shooting page there is a red banner on the top of the page it pretty much explains everything you need to know!

    You dont need a safe for one unrestricted firearm. Check the Gada website. It would be cheaper to buy a .22 at the moment than, same rules apply and more usefull

    Erm, no, sorry canttakeajoke, that's entirely incorrect.:(

    The minimum security requirements state that a gun safe is required for three or fewer non-restricted firearms.

    So, as an air rifle is a non-restricted firearm and there is only one firearm (I presume from the OP), then the minimum requirement will be for a Gun Safe: https://us.v-cdn.net/6034073/uploads/attachments/17587/87248.pdf

    It's a NON-RESTRICTED SHOTGUN which may not need a gun safe - Everything else does.

    And, please note, these are minimum security requirements, your own local CPO or FO may require more security measures to be installed over and above the statutory minimum. If you're unsure, ask them when you're discussing your FAC application.

    Thats currently obscured by the Santa Strike force announcement, but the page you're looking for is here.
    You dont need a safe for one unrestricted firearm.................

    SI 307/2009 from the Garda Website;
    • Level 1 - One unrestricted Shotgun - Disassembly and each part stored seperately. A trigger lock is to be used.
    • Level 2 - One restricted or three or fewer unrestricted firearms - The firearms shall be stored in a gun that complies with BS7558 and the safe securely fixed to a solid structure.
