Why are unconfirmed friends appearing in FB newsfeed?

    I've recently noticed that people that I have sent a friend request to on FB are appearing in my newsfeeds BEFORE they have confirmed me. I assume this happens the other way round too.

    The people who's friend requests I havent accepted may be able to see my status updates/ activity. There's a reason I didnt accept them - because I didn't want them to see my activity!

    How can I change this?
