Anyone got any idea if things are back to normal from tomorrow?

Dunno what Maynooth is like but in Dublin it's stopped snowing but the ground is still leathal.

    No changes since Thursday.
I'd say that Monday will go ahead.
The Campus isn't great, but the roads to Maynooth have improved a little bit.
Public Transport is still an unknown at the moment, but I'd say that this evening they will have a better idea of what the state of play is.

Me too, might as well have been called "NUIM on ice" last week...

Is there anywhere selling ice skates in Maynooth??

Ah here come on it wasn't that bad last week. Unless you had no sense of balance or were running along like a goon then there's no real need to be complaining. The only place to be avoided in the whole of Maynooth is along by the leaking drain pipes beside The Orient, AIB and O'Neills.

Ireland in general really needs to man up and stop complaining about this snow. It's only a couple of inches not a few feet

Scratch that. The Magic JCB is out, plowing the snow out of the way. Big improvement. Hope it stays that way.... ;)

I've got a foot of snow and I only live 30 minutes from Maynooth

    The Matthews aren't running?!?!

They weren't for a day or two (more because of the explosion on O' Connell than anything), and I'm lazy ^^', I begged my bf's dad to give me a lift, and he kindly obliged, so I'm here now :P

Except in typical Maynooth fashion, when they went over the roads, they didn't really consider the car parks, despite that being where most of the road users would eventually end up! Had to help a woman who got her car stuck this morning get out, which wasn't helped by the fact that she didn't really get how to drive in slippery conditions.

It's still better than nothing though! I was in a car accident last Fri (wasn't driving :p), so any sort of stability is fine by me!

Roads on this side of campus are neither gritted nor cleared.

Absolutely outraged this morning for the state of the car parks, only front one beside the bridge being some how usable. Felt pretty stupid getting stuck in ice and snow being fairly inexperienced with snowy weather, but reopening of the college despite parking covered in thick ice and snow is not the smartest move either.what if someone broke a leg or worse?

P.S. And I would like to express my gratuity to two patient students for helping me to get out of this mess. If it wasn't for them, i'd still be there, so thank you. :)

    Dear Students,

Because of weather conditions affecting Maynooth and the prospects of further snow tomorrow, the University will close from this
afternoon, December 21st and will remain closed until Tuesday 4th January 2011.

We have taken this decision in the interests of the safety of students and staff, and apologise for any inconvenience caused by this decision.

With best wishes for the Christmas season.

    Yours sincerely,

    Professor Tom Collins

    President

Rather than posting a new thread, just resurrecting this for anyone that it may affect (less than normal, I know, given that there are no lectures, etc.)

    Reading Rooms

The reading rooms in the National Library of Ireland will close to the public at 5.00pm on Thursday 23rd December 2010 and re-open at 9.30am on Tuesday 4th January 2011.

I presume this means the National Library is out as well.

Very disappointed to see the library closed for so long. First exam on the 7th and have to get some readings done. Hopefully the Maynooth library in Kilkenny isn't closed, might get a bit done there
