    How about a back story?

When was it shot, where, by whom, distance, lads involved, weight, etc, etc.

Was shot by a friend of mine in Meath. Didnt get chance hear the full story of the stalk or shot apart from 6.5 hornady 140gr, was up skinning the other evening and he showed me the head.

Had been seen around for last few months, twice I had the scope on him with no safe shot

He was a ward union escapee, hasnt been measured yet but I'm sure it'll make gold. Base of the antlers were as thick as my forearm and very very heavy !!

He was "skinning it the other evening" and already the head is that clean... Please share how he managed that ?
    Fantastic head by the way.

    What a shame! :(
He was on my land, i know exactly where ye shot him!
You would think, after escaping from them <mod snip> who call them selfs the 'Ward Union Hunt', that the poor stag would be left alone!
I don't call that hunting, at all, its a tame deer, <mod snip>?
Its folk like this, that will get all hunting banned, be it shooting, hunting with dogs ect!
    <mod snip>. !

He didn't shoot it and it was presumably shot legally. Nothing you can do I suspect.

Fallow the reds in meath are far from tame, they originated as escapees from the hunt and are now a wild herd.

Tfox thats a cracker of a head.

    Thank you guys :)

The animal in question was shot on ground my friend has permission on, with a licenced deer rifle, he himself having a deer licence, during the open stag season so there is nothing to be taken further !!

As anyone who has stalked reds in meath be they escapees or not would know they are far from tame and a more than worthy opponent in a stalk !! This animal was entire so therefore escaped before the Wards started gelding the stags which they have done so for some time. He contacted the hunt and they confirmed this.

Fallow I am not going to get into a public argument on this, if you would like to discuss it further PM me.

On another note on your dislike of the Ward Union Hunt you are perfectly entitled to your opinion on there methods and I myself am not a huge fan of that type of hunting, but I think it is very important that we as the bloodsporting community support each and everyone be they hunters, shooters, fishers, hawkers, coursers etc. A united front is the only way we shall keep our sport alive.

A couple of posts tidied up, and one user on a months holiday for language and threatening post.

This will not be toleratred, and thats what the Mods and report post button are for.

    Keep it civil.
