    have a copy booked
hoping to get back early from work tomorrow to go get it

Harvey Normans were doing a pre-order price of €47
As far as I know XtraVision and HMV are coming around the €49 mark

Is it just me or does everyone think it looks slow and boring from the videos released so far?

... and I'm more of a fan of F1 than the Need for Speeds etc

Tap the wheel to the left or right and the car screeches with plenty of understeer.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23,316 ✭✭✭✭amacachi

I'll not be getting it. Had it been out this time last year I may have but since I would need a wheel as well I really can't justify the outlay.

I've had it an hour and I'm dangerously close to firing it out the window.

    - I tried to install it, just as it began it said 20 mins remaining, so I though nice one, I'll catch the Chelsea match til half time and be ready to go. Switched back at Half time and it had seemingly frozen about 25% of the way in.

    - On the main screen where I select between GT Mode and Arcade mode I keep getting a pop up telling me the time and date settings are wrong (which they aren't) and that I should check it.

    - In GT Mode you have to "design" your lounge/homepage. You are prompted to do this every time you enter your lounge (This includes every time you browse back into it having looked at races available, your garage, cars for sale etc, these are all features within your lounge) and even though I set it every time it keeps saying "Cannot connect to server" which means I have to do it again the next time I enter the lounge. Now it's not a long process or anything, quite the opposite, it just doesn't be long getting irritating when you have to do it every time, FTR it also saves it every time too adding another 6-7 seconds to the delay.

    - The fact that I haven't been able to install it means race loads times are ludicrous, so FYI install it first time when you get it.

I'm gonna get back to finding some positives here before I head off in an hour or so :D

Too much! Ah I traded in a heap of games it's setting me back 80. Full retail is a scandalous €179.99! I'd only do it for GT though I don't buy many special editions

Ha, good answer. That is alot, I know it was announced it was going be 150 upward but thats a big price tag, you do get a hell of alot for it though.

As you said, its GT, so spending that bit extra will be worth it, i have a Collector's Edition on hold in Gamestop so cant wait to pick it up, im expecting to pay about 65-80 quid for it but dont care :pac:

Really getting into it now and can see this taking up a good bit of my time. Absolutely loving the Go-Karts!:D The first challenge on the Top Gear test track is some bitch, driving camper vans around in a line, I couldn't get past 8th or 9th, never mind first

Installing the game now, can't wait. This is not going to be a game for those who instant action & gratification.
Lots of time needed to level up to unlock tracks, cars & mechanical damage.

The DFGT wheel is €99 in GAME & Argos, very tempted to pick it up.

There's a part of me that doesn't want to put in the disk until I get a wheel config in place. Then a part of me looked at my bank details and that little part died a little. :(

Servers are getting hammered. I've been playing signed out of PSN all evening and I'm not having any issues.

Well, after having a PS3 for ages and waiting for this game (the only one I have on the PS3) I'm slightly disappointed... There's nowt that makes me go WOW, maybe I was expecting too much... (twas a long wait)

Far too many menus and it takes ages to move through them, does my head in... Seems very cumbersome.

after i click into gt mode it takes 5 min to go to the next screen

That vid on page 1 just seems like GT4 ported to PS3. Same boring racing as the AI follows each other in a line while you have to outbrake as many of them as possible.

Where to you get the classic cars? In the A-spec mode you have to have a pre 1989 classic, found one in the used car dealership but is couldnt find any in the normal dealership.

This "boring" argument that's brewing over GT5 really grinds my gears. As a fan of the series since GT on the PS I feel GT5 is a flawed game but the core components still make it a classic GT game.

Was GT1 exciting? How about GT2 or 3 or 4?? What some people class as boring I class as thrilling and exciting. It's all about driving the perfect lap in GT games. It's not about pileups or nitro boosting. Driving on the limit and being precise is what GT games are all about. If your not into that then it may be quite boring for you but every single GT game has been like this.

Anyways back to GT5, loading is too long and the music was swiftly turned off. Some dodgy textures and some screen tearing too. Despite all this I love it.

Do yourself a favour, if your into driving games and especially GT get yourself the Logitech DFGT and the Wheelstand Pro.

I havn't raced GT5 yet but even in GT5 Prologue the AI was vastly improved, mistakes being made from AI right in fromt of you, spinning out and stalling in theh middle of the track, ending up in the sand etc. I'd doubt GT5 is reverting to GT4 but I'll see when I get a few races under my belt.

Bargain bin licensed music is pretty much a tradition on GT by now.

Just played it for another hour n it's game over for me...

To be honest.. Any game that describes driving around a track in a Type 2 "Thrilling" should be ashamed of itself.. I think they tried to do too much with it.. There's so much going on in it it's just a mess. The simple fact that it takes so long to do anything just drives me mad. When I sit down to play a game, I want to play it.. I don't wanna spend ages going from menu to menu and a certanly don't wanna drive around the top gear race track in a type 2. I just wanna sit down n play the damn thing!!!!!

No im not looking for GT Time trial going fast and perfect laps is a huge part of racing.

So what's wrong with the racing in GT then? I've only started in the beginner events and I've had great races so far.
