Azza's Garden Invitational Online Tournament.

Right a while back I said I would try running an online tournament. So now that I'm done with Fallout New Vegas I'm going finally and try and get the ball rolling.

Basically I'm going rip of the God's Garden online tournament.

Format
12 players.
1 character only tournament.
Console=Xbox 360.

Round 1
First round happens over a 3 night period (Fri-Sunday) on a date yet to be announced.

In the first round everyone plays each other in a first to 3.

Each victory is worth 3 points.

After everyone plays each other the bottom 4 are eliminated.

In the event we have a tie for 8th place a play off game between the tied players will occur. This is also first to 3.

Round 2
Second round will happen over a period of 2-3 weeks following round 1.

Second round is first to 10.

All match results are reported by the winner to me, via IRC, boards PM or e-mail.

Lag Rules
Test match to be carried out before a tournament match proper. If both characters agree its okay the match goes ahead.

If there is lag between two players we will try to reschedule the match. If there is still lag we will try to determine which player the lag is coming from by having players connect to other players and see if they are still lagging. The player who is causing the lag will forfeit the match.

If the game starts lagging mid match. The players can postpone the remaining matches but the result of the current match still counts.

In the event of a drop, the player who drops forfeits the current match.

The Truth

Obviously invited players can opt out of the tournament for whatever reason.
In that event other players will be invited in there place.

Those invited that want to play, just reply below with their character of choice.

Ill play but invite only is weird. Half those dudes are laggy or dont play online.

Nice idea Azza...... invite only - kinda wierd. For something like this here prob best to try it first with players who all have very good connections etc. I'm not advocating who in particular but have to agree with Bush that the first people should be those with little/no lag. For example, I could never do it cause our internet is rubbish. This also means Brian couldn't.

Good idea, needs a bit of work to make work though - no?

I'm aware that 2 of the players don't play online normally, Newtype and The Truth but I asked Blag to ask them anyway.

As for lag. Well Newtype and The Truth are unknown. The rest I've had good consistently good connections with except Cobels recently who's a bit irratic. But most of the time its playable fine.

Id put ken and prenelf on there too, all 3 are good and have decent connections.

I suppos lag can vary day to day, person to person. People just need to make sure no one else is using the net in their house while they are playing. Sf4 turns to crap even when people are just browsing the net on the same connection ive found.

(Couldn't really anywho, I don't be in Celbridge at weekends and I've have to be a dictator (pardon the pun) about other people using the ent while I was playing, which aint really fair.)

12 was the number used at God's Garden. Was thinking I don't want to over do it with too many matches at my first attempt to run something like this.

If its successfully we could future tournaments, possible do like a second league where the top 4 from league 2 go up to league 1 and the bottom 4 from league 1 are relegated.

I don't think I'll have the time to do this after all, assignments piling up and given that I'm putting way more time into ST at the moment and the interest shown by others, I'd be best giving up my place.

Also, I don't have xbox live anymore and would prefer to keep it that way, my Uni results have gone up proportionally to the less I've played online, who would have thought...:pac:

i was merely havin a laugh, same way you in your own way assume editing other peoples posts is also a joke. I definitely was not sore over an 'online tournament' selection, are you serious? .
I just had a problem with it being an already selected group and posted on a public side of the forum , it just made it sound very cliquey for new comers.
And with no stated intentions of streaming or recording it, i thought it came across quite elitist.

Does everyobopdy have to hav a different character? Like if I play Ryu will Red have to play someone else? Wasn't Gods Garden the same, nobody had the same character or was that just how it worked out.

Its just 1 character per player. But players can have the same character.

I don't see a problem with this being invite only. It's no secret who the better players are usually at infernos so having a tournament with top ranking players in it only is exactly what happened in Japan. Did people give out about it being elitist, probably but the method has merit as seen in the GodsGarden tournament recently. If people want to be bitter about the fact they weren't considered they should keep it to themselves. I for one am looking forward to watching the fights!

I just hope you're gonna stream it!
