    I need one of these

I'm so tired of going out with the shotty and seeing deer, and going out with the .308 and seeing (yesterday) Phezzies, Maggers, Hare's and grey crows.

All on the same permission by the way!!:D

combined weapons are certainly a possibility and the new form has an option to apply for them.

Have a look at this for instance:

Ah Blaser are shocking dear, one would have to import them especially.
It gets so frustrating when you see Game on the same permission that you have stalking.

Personally i wouldn't be bothered with a "FIREARM" like that. If i go out for pheasants i'll bring the shotgun. If i see a deer, i'll watch it, but won't be too upset with not getting a shot at it. Vice vrsa if i bring the rifle out. See no deer, but loads of phesants, duck, etc i just have to bite my lip and let them go.

Remember you don't have to shoot everything all the time. Its the reason i stopped going out with a "friend" of mine years ago. He could not pass any animal without trying or wanting to take a shot at it. Even those he shouldn't be shooting at anyway. All he had was a .243 rifle so you get the idea.

I'm not loosing my firearms for someone else's stupidity.

Whats wrong with wanting to bring something home, a hunter would be just as satisfied with a Cock phezzie as a deer.

I looked at the phezzie for ~15mins.
It was good to see a hare as big as a lab too!

It's a wonderful place for hunting in a relatively small area, 3 farms 100 acres max each prob less.
    I always see something.
Last time I was out I saw a short eared Owl. Not a very common sight.

They're not as accurate as a typical stalking rifle. You're certainly not going to be pulling off head shots at 200 yards with it, and you're probably not going to shoot anything past 75. In addition, I'll put money on it that someone who hasn't grown up around them is sooner or later going to fire the wrong barrel at an animal, whether it be peppering a deer with shot or pumping a .30 calibre bullet at a pheasant in the air. That prospect always weighs on my mind when I see them. Also, as esridax says, if you absolutely have to come home with something, anything, at any cost, think about carrying the rifle on your shoulder and the shotgun in your hands.

Nothing at all. What gives you the impression i think its wrong?

All i said was if you bring out the shotgun, and see a deer, curse yourself and bring the rifle the next time. As Itwasn'tme said if you really must shoot something bring the rifle and shotugun out.

Again it comes back to what i said before. It will do 2 things fairly okay, but nothing excellently. If i go out (on my own) with the shotgun i usually have the .22 or .223 across my back. If i go out with Father or friends we usually mix it up. One or two with a shotgun the others with rifles.

I just don't see the need to shoot something everytime i'm out. If i get something great if not, to hell with it, i'd still enjoy the walk/stalk.

I wished my .223 had a shotgun barrel last Thursday night. That, or a 40mm grenade launcher would have done just fine.

Now, Rifle and shotgun carried together.....Hmmmmmm
Not very practical where this particular place is.
Hard enough to crawl through undergrowth stealth-fully with a rifle, never mind a shotgun lassoed around me back.

The Farmer wants me to shoot the scall crows, and the deer, so I bring the rifle, but the game always seems to come in the wrong order.

It just the idea pops into my head every time I am in this particular place. Fellas say why you get not phezzies?
I have to explain I was carrying the rifle.
A double trigger would work well. first trigger the shotty, second the rifle.

I may show you the place some day, it's a hunters dream :D
Any of the local gunclub don't go into the most of it as it is tough going.
It's a valley where the bottom is the remnants of bog, in fairness bog is actually growing there.

In hard weather you need to wear waders as the drains can be very deep.
    But I love it!

On a side note the new Tactical bolt knob is a dream to work with cold hands. I never noticed until yesterday and I had to cock/uncock crossing ditches/dykes and gates.

A guy I know had a double, O/U 308 and 12 gauge. Now this guy is a big deer man and had the same idea as the OP, however it turned out that it struggled to hold the zero after a couple of shots with the 12 gauge barrell (there is probabally a good reason for that, Im not getting into it here) and it took him ages to get it licensed and in the end got a shotgun cert and a rifle cert:confused: Bit like a sako quad I suppose.

He had it a season then went back to a more standard form of stalking rifle.

    hope it helps..

Actually own a Valmet Model 412 myself and have been scouring the net for the combination barrels for it (no joy so far :(). I can see them being handy on local permissions.

Does your one look like this? Or is your's a standard shotty and needs the rifle barrels to become a Rifle shotty combo?

Needs the barrels unfortunately, as ive said I've been digging around the net but they're like hens teeth :(
