The Unofficial AH Political Party

Right so I've had a brainwave. I reckon we should start a sensible persons' political party (not affiliated with boards.ie or anything) but made up of members from on here whose contributions over the course of the recession have contained more sense than any of the drivel spouted by Dáil Éireann.

I reckon we could actually get a few seats given there's nearly half a million members on here.

What do we think? (And on a more serious note, how in the name of all that's holy does one actually start a political party here???)

We'd have to get more seats than the bloody greens, anyway.

If AH were in power we'd have a bunch of people in charge of economics and social issues who have no clue what they're on about, no education or background in the area they are charged with but seemingly have an opinion on everything and think they're experts in all areas.


So not much different than what we have now.

I was having this discussion with someone recently. There should really be a boards.ie political party.

Low corporation tax
Huge tax on crap, unhealthy, fast food.
Overhaul of Health and Education systems using French and Finland models respectively.

This could actually be a good idea? In which case, what should the party be called? We want a name that says sensible, fair politics but not which gives an impression that we all have rods up our holes.

The problem is that there is such a variety of views on boards, that it'd never work.

Some of us are libertarians and others are a breath away from socialists. We'd have to sort that out if we were to do anything. lol

I'm actually starting to think this isn't an awful idea

Different views isn't a bad thing, it could be revolutionary in terms of reformed politics which is the whole aim here. After all the current government can welcome cross-party politics, so why not a party of people willing to work together for the better? Only people excluded would be extremists, we need to put silly issues aside and fix the place first.

Yea, this sounds like a real winner.

Except of course for the small technical difficulty that we would need all boardsies to move to no more than probably 4 or 5 places in ireland so we can vote for them.

Boards.ie have alot of people, but spread over and throughout all the constituencies in ireland, you wouldnt have enough votes to get their candidate off the foot of the ballot poll

You would need probably 50 thousand or so boardsied to move to longford or south kerry and register their vote there for the candidate in those areas.
