black ops fairly bad...xbox graphics not that good...the most terrible thing is the horrible spawning points...lets hope they patch it....cod 4 the best by far....

    Black Ops
The way i see it is as follows:

MW2 : Idea ****e, execution best as possible
BO : Idea good, execution ****e.

I've had BO since the day it was released and i'm quite fed up of it already.

Enjoying BO more i have to say, no bull**** kills online and i love the customization. As for single player i didn't really get hooked into it like i did with Mw2, but still not bad experience.

I've not even played 5 hours worth of the game yet so this opinion is subject to change. :)

While BO has a lot of flaws including poorer graphics, overall I much prefer it as I feel it's more balanced than MW by far.

    As 2smiggy said:
    mw >= black ops > mw2 > waw

    Definitely!

COD4 was the business in terms of graphics, gameplay and while the maps weren't brilliant (apart from a couple of them) it was a far better game than MW2. Black Ops for me lies somewhere in between.

Give me another month or two and I might change my mind but not by much I'd say.

MW2 wasn't a bad game really, and it wouldn't have been so bad if the community wasn't useless and exploit stupid stuff.

It'll happen to BO, just have to wait and see what it is.

    Black Ops
Black Ops removed all the fun that MW2 brought to the table, i miss being able to to run around with a hand gun or shotgun and still get a few kills.

Has anybody tried this in Black Ops its impossible, it takes a full clip to kill one person which is frustrating.

Mw2 got the balance between a fun game and a competitive game perfect, where as in BlOps you get punished for not using a sub machine gun or assault rifle!

Also you know the game/maps are terrible when all anybody does is hip fire with there guns, serious, next time you play count how many deaths you take from some dude hipfiring its shocking!

I've been getting a few one shot kills with the olympia and stakeout shotguns, i've also taken a few guys down with handguns as well, but you really need extended mags with handguns i find.

Black Ops - has dedicated servers, you can get a game where the server host can't pull the plug once he starts dying or ping storm you.

feels much more balanced, especially in hardcore. A bit of teamwork goes a long way, makes it feel a bit like battlefield (good thing) rather that a casual flash game like MW2.

If you try to run about with a pistol or knife you will get milled in seconds - perfect!

the more I play BLOPs the more I like it tbh, I was ready to hate it but it's very balanced except for the travesty that is sniping (although I have found a way that kind of works for quickscoping, seems to work a fair amount of the time). Sniper bullets should be godlike in this game after what they did to the scopes. There's no justification for making people camp-snipe if it takes 2-3 upper body bullets to kill, but Josh Olin wont see a problem that nobody snipes because he doesn't die from them any more so looks like we're stuck with it...

Right now i prefer Black Ops, that may change but as of now i do prefer it.

I feel the MP experience is great, the guns being balanced and every game not being overrun by killstreaks. I like most of the maps, find the guns enjoyable and the perks and equipment fun also.

I haven't completed the Campaign yet so i do not think it would be fair for me to judge it now. Zombies is awesome also :)

anyone who prefers being able to kill with shotguns from sniper like range can stick with mw2. same applies to danger close, commando and one man army.

i am enjoying not being killed like this anymore. it's also better earning killstreaks rather than the usual predator/harries/ac130 or chopper gunner.

Agree with the danger close and ****, but shotguns in mw2 were about right imo. Not for MW2 (Because they were a secondary in it) but for black ops. A shotgun will kill someone from alot further out than the 10 yards you have to be in blops. In mw2 the spaz wasnt as good as any of the AR's or the UMP etc, it was just alot better than the rest of the secondaries... lets be honest, comparing a pistol to a shotgun... its pretty obvious which one is better.

Being a primary weapon in blops, i find the shotguns very underwhelming tbh

Still not sure about the maps, but the game's balance is light years ahead of MW2 when it launched so BO gets my vote.

Went back to MW and WAW for a month when MW2 was first flooded with players sprinting around with dual shotguns and knifers using the care package exploit.

im suprised your suprised . you where here last year too remember all the bitching about it ? ive had my fair share of posts about how pissed off i am at the lag and the price of maps and so on so forth . we've all had our fair share :)

    Tis edited now.

:O mods can edit poll results ......everything i believe in has been turned upside down !

    Black Ops
God I really have tried my best to like this game I really have.... Its just not as good as mw2.

The graphics, the sound, the lack of urgency to the movements, the maps and honestly the worst bit for me personally..... the weapons / kilstreaks.
I mean they are 40year old guns! Simply not as cool as modern day weapons imo. I wouldnt play a racing game that gave me only 40year old cars to drive. Killstreaks like the rc car are not nearly as class as seeing a precision airstrike tear across a map.

I gotta say, I much prefer Black Ops. Sure, the servers are JACKED until they patch it, but MW2 had way more problems when it came out than Black Ops does.

It's a hell of a lot more balanced than MW2 ever was aswell; perks, killstreaks, weapons etc.

I'm loving the balance and I've yet to find a map I truly despise. Unlike in MW2 where I DESPISED Derail, Wasteland, Overpass and Karachi from day one.

Overall, Treyarch have really outdone themselves with Black Ops, and I think anyone trying to compare it to MW2 is silly. Sure, it might still be Call of Duty, but it's a different company and as a result it's an entirely different game. Loving it.

RCXD is not balanced, try playing nuketown against a team of players all using them and come back to me. It'll become the dangerclose-oma-noobtuber of Black Ops.

This I take issue with. To compare two FPS games like black ops and MW2 is not silly. People are obviously going to compare games within a series against each other. People will always have faves but through competition the games (hopefully) improve. Fifa vs pro evo, football manager vs championship manager, halo vs cod, IW vs treyarch, etc. etc. Black Ops and MW2 do need to be compared.

At the moment I have had major frustrations with this game, yet there is at the very core of it an enjoyable game wrapped in some awful layers. There is the horribly random spawns, the lag, the party matchmaking system, the plethora of rc-xd's, the lower quality graphics and sound, but in spite of them all I still enjoy it most of the time. When I don't it's far worse than MW2 ever was.

Whether it discards or resolves, the majority of these (it won't) remains to be seen. I still think that IW has the edge over treyarch in terms of series high water marks, COD2 and COD4 IMO far surpass all others. But to give treyarch it's due's it has produced /borrowed novel modes and incorporated them into one package. Albeit a flawed one as it stands.

I think it'll come down to the multiplayer experience which will sway voters, both MW2 and BO had woefully convuluted messes of stories,
MW2 with its ultimate betrayal and BO with it's tiresome flashbacks and fight club inspired plot
both would have scored low marks in an English leaving cert essay. At the moment treyarch have all the tools (more variety in game modes, theatre, zombies, zorc!) to better MW2 but whether they do remains to be seen.

Too many people looking back at MW2 with rose-tinted glasses IMO, the RC is probably the thing annoying me most in this game, well and campers but they are MUCH more easily dealt with than in MW2. At least if you see a spike camera you know that there's a camper nearby.

Would you not sacrifice graphics and sound quality(I presume you mean guns + explosions and not having the advantage to sound whore) for a fair and balanced game where more skilled players will thrive in? That instead of the overpowered and frankly ridiculous weapons, perks, attachments, death streaks and kill streaks.........

The game is not even out a week and I'm sure a lot of folks are still unsure of their surroundings. I've taken to it like a duck to water and am loving it as previously mentioned. I've reverted about to my COD4 rushing days and I'm not kill too often by campers. If you mean movement in relation to game physics, you might have to expand on that for me.

Also not sure what you mean by urgency of movement? If you mean camping, well that's natural as it's not even out a week. MW2 was a camping haven for people to leech off others walking by to get their precious killstreaks. That's what the game(MW2) is about - killstreaks. Get a chopper gunner, spawn trap and win. Rinse and repeat repeatedly.

I personally never thought I buy another game that was set pre-modern times, this despite the Cold War being my favorite part when studying history in days gone past.

I actually thought you'd be one of the people here to most definetely like the game tbh. You used to be cool Hightower :pac:

I wanna know where all these campers are that you's get killed by :D

I agree re: the RC Car, it is a bloody nuisance. But not as bad as some of the crap in MW2. Not even close.

I honestly don't see why they NEED to be compared. Comparing Fifa and Pro Evo is silly aswell in my opinion. People are always going to prefer one over the other. My point is, all of these Call of Duty fanboys who constantly rag on Halo for being s*** are now peeved that this isn't like Modern Warfare 2. From the start, we knew this wasn't going to be like MW2. It's completely different and all it boils down to is a matter of opinion. If you feel that comparing games keeps things fresh then that's cool. It's just my opinion that comparing things always leads to disappointment. If I'd gone in expecting Modern Warfare 3 I'd have been sorely disappointed.

Enjoy Black Ops for what it is, and if you don't like it so much, jump back to MW2. :)

I never said they need to be compared but they will always be compared, BOps will no doubt be looked back fondly when MW3 comes out and so on. I took issue with you calling people who compare MW2 and Black Ops silly. You basically talked badly about everyone who commented and voted in this thread.

Opinions on maps are an individual thing, what you may like I may dislike and vice versa, Nuketown I feel is bad for the majority of games it descends into mayhem which can be enjoyable but for tactical games such as demolition is ridiculous, trying to plant and defend a bomb in the opposition spawn is just madness. But sometimes a descent into madness can be enjoyable.

Can I change my vote? :o

I jumped the gun and voted on just having played the SP, which does suck.

....BUUUT the online is good craic. The wager matches are an excellent feature.

    +1 for Black Ops

    China still cool! :D

I think its too much to give up for the sake of doing away with the annoyances of MW2. Yeah drop shotting, MLC, scav / noob tube / danger close were one of the most irritating things I can think of in gaming for the last 10 years (right up there with the constant delay of conviction) BUT it says a lot of a game when you over come the ejits night after night after night for such a high quality game. Small things constantly blew my mind like going prone to get the vantage point to find a random pile of rubbish you never paid attention to wasnt just clutter after all it was making sure if you went prone there you can only see one way and are blind to the other meaning every little step had been though of and gives you a tough choice.
If you mean movement in relation to game physics, you might have to expand on that for me.

Well the avatar movement if very slow and sluggish, moving from prone to sprint is at least half teh speed of mw2 for some reason? Turning the sensetivity up isnt enough the controlls just dont feel as crisp as MW2s IMO.

I personally never thought I buy another game that was set pre-modern times, this despite the Cold War being my favorite part when studying history in days gone past..

Me too but I decided to buy based on the changes Treyarch made to the MP, I soon learned what they give wit one hand they take away with another... yeah the mess acting has been cleared up for the most part but then they drop the ball with the graphics and sound? I mean you can patch the spawning and hosting but you cant patch the core of the game.
I actually thought you'd be one of the people here to most definetely like the game tbh. You used to be cool Hightower :pac:

I know it is a good game, I just dont think its quality level is enough to make it a great game. I just wish we could have mw2 sound, graphics, levels weapons and killstreaks with BOs removal of the mess ups like M/L/C... it doesnt say a lot of BO when people ask "what makes it better than MW2" and the reply is "they dont have stupid perks like the last game" when ya think of it , what did they actually add???? Heaps of customization? - yes... but what did they add?

Edit: I'm trying not to sound so negative cause I am sure its a good game.... I'm just hating the era its set in. I wish I could look past it but I cant :-(
