I was going through my old ps1 games and found one I bought in a charity shop ages ago.

Looks like Ivan wasn't very sentimental...

I think I bought this in Sligo... I could be wrong.
Does anyone know any Ivans in Sligo or anywhere in the west? :pac:

    Bad breakup? :pac:

Well, looking at the card she got him directly in the heart with an arrow, that's gotta have inflicted major hit points. Judging by her signature, she already has at least 7 kills, so good reason to be wary of her. And to top it all off, she even gloats on the card "You'll definitely remember this Valentines Day". Valentine's Day massacre more like. Ivan, if you're still breathing, you're better off without her, mate.

It was explained in the post that Tumblr was blocked on that person's work computer so they took a pic and uploaded it on their phone.

I see people bring this up around Gamergate a lot but it's kind of the same as saying "first feminists say sexual liberation is important but then they think porn is misogynistic!". Point being, gamers aren't a hive mind, they don't all think the same way. If anything there are two very divided factions of ones who think games should be considered art and ones who think games should just be fun and nothing else. Most of the ones who support Gamergate or who hate Sarkeesian are in the latter camp and for the last few years they've been complaining about Gone Home or The Last of Us or any other story-driven game because "if I wanted a story and characters I'd watch a movie". The ones who do want it to be considered art are the kind who generally welcome this criticism with open arms.

I agree that gamers (defined as anyone who plays video games) aren't a hive mind but when I read the term "gamer" I take it as the self-identifying bunch who pompously think they have the monopoly on what constitutes video games and what criticisms could be leveled at them.

I love video games as well as the diverse community of people who play them, I just hate those who try to uphold the very worst stereotypes of "gamers". Rolled my eyes at the above pic because it's an overly-defensive and somewhat petulant response to complete straw-men. Nobody is persecuting you for the games you play or trying to make you feel bad for playing them and I find it borderline pathetic how some gamers are acting like victimized parties in all this. I mean come on... I kind of get the sense that whoever made that pic is one of those "gamers are an oppressed class" people.

Now rant over, can we get back to the funny? Don't wanna be responsible for derailing this thread. :pac:

This is how i feel everytime this thread gets bumped and there are no funnies. Can we go back to 'non discussion' in the thread title please?

I hear you i think we need to bring this in. It be nice to get back to light hearted gaming humor. Don't really want to have this thread go into soap boxing from either side of the gamergate thing.

Honestly I wouldn't mind a ban on "gamer-gate" memes in this thread. It's not even slightly funny anymore, IMO. I'm sure there are others who feel the same.

Yeah I feel the same way about these humour posts ridiculously oversimplifying the argument from the side of social critics just as unfunny and tedious tbh. Very lazy and talk about picking easy targets.

It wasn't so long ago ( about a year ago ) that the gaming humour had a (No Discussion) amendment attached to it.
Mod Note: So you might have noticed we removed the 'no discussion' part from the 'gaming humour (no discussion)'. We don't think there's any major reason to restrict a bit of casual banter, so yeah feel free to reply and chat away. Within reason, of course: if it descends into petty squabbling or anything we reserve the right to step in and delete the bull**** :)

I wish it was brought back.
Or at least if you're gonna post something,,,,,you have to also post something humorous along with your comment

About 90% of them in here are posted by e_e.....and he thanked your post anyway. :p

90% is a bit of a gross exaggeration and I think only like 2 of my posts directly reference Gamergate, besides I've seen a lot of humor here from the other side and thought I'd post these for a bit of balance.

There's a base level of irony in the term "Actually, it's about ethics in games journalism." that I find hilarious so shoot me. :D

Not a bit fair seeing as each of my posts have more than a few thumbs up.

It's almost as if *gasp* humor is subjective. Don't laugh at everything in this thread but that doesn't mean I can presume to speak for everyone else and tell said person to stop posting.

Go post your political un-funnies and debates somewhere else, they're sh1t. Looking back through the last couple of pages it is easy to tell you're throwing out a fishing line looking to hook onto a debate with someone about this stupid topic.

Hang on a second here, why am I being the target here? People have been posting controversy related humor in this thread for years. If you can't take humor you don't find funny or disagree with then just grow a thicker skin or unfollow the thread. I find it ridiculous and a bit baffling how this stuff is all of a sudden an issue, especially when there are quite clearly people here who do enjoy it.

Also I'm not even remotely trying to start a debate here, I'm just sharing stuff I found pretty funny and right on. I should be as free to post gaming related humor (whether YOU like it or not) without all this unnecessary off-topic BS. If my posts somehow touch a nerve with you then by all means send me a message and maybe we can have a chat there. Because you're kind of shooting yourself in the foot by constantly dragging it away from the picture/video related posts.
