Not being able to get into a lobby with a party full of mates is seriously ruining this game for me.

Also, I'm not fond of being able to vote for the previous map. Demolition 3 times in a row on Nuketown can get rather tedious.

Yeah...that is a bitch. I mean everyone and his dog knows that a MP is a hell of alot better when killing/playing mates....or a clan. Its the banter that gives a game its edge.

Can you actually add a server IP in game, or do you have to plain old search....could not find any Irish server other then the one I play on all the time. I have found about four really good servers so I tend to play them all the time. I think I have been very lucky indeed with this game

    Single Player impressions:

Fantasy Guns -Why set in cold war and give modern type weapons, ACOG in 1961?!

Zero progression in terms of gameplay, same ol same ol linear crap, really getting boring now. Same complaints about MOH. I gotta stop playing these games methinks, cannot tell them apart anymore, COD 1 was a huge breakthrough when it came out and has pretty much stayed at that level, Id hoped Black ops would give something new. This linear arcade ride is wearing super thin. Back to ARMA with me.

    Castro was not that bad:P

Graphics, not a huge step on from COD2 really, (ze one with the one with ze germans)

Sounds -Weak and un gun like in the main, compared to BFBC2 for example.
Sounds like they ripped straight from older games.

Tired and Clieched format at this stage. Bullet in the franchise head time imo
Fooking yawn fest which is gutting as I was looking forward to a good Nam shooter, Im still waiting...

Opinion so far (MP on 360 only)

    The Good:
    Fantastic map design
    Like all the customisation stuff.
Wager matches and contracts are really good idea.
    Actually like the RC car.
Enjoying the fact I"m not getting sniped all the time

    The Bad
Party is no longer active issue is completely ruining the fun.
Needs to be patched very soon. Does anyone know if it's being addressed?
Sound is a bit dodgy in places.. .I like the new grenade noises but some of the guns and the ambient noise is awful.

I honestly cannot see the love for the maps in this game. Some are a complete and utter joke (nuketown fail), others are needlessly overcomplicated and more are designed so that most players will hang around the same area of the map, with the rest a deserted wasteland.

I may just give up on the game until patches arrive.

I honestly cannot wait for MW3 now. I never got WAW but heard it wasn't as good as the MW series. Understatement of the year.

While I agree with you, I can't help but vote for certain maps again and again :o

There are 3 maps that I vote for again - Launch, Summit and Cracked. Fantastic maps and I can fully understand why these maps in the main were showcased by Treyarch pre-release.

I actually played COD 4 to get me in the mood for this and all it did was show how inferior Black Ops is to it.

I'm still reeling over how buggy it is, I know it's a common thing with games and they're going to patch it but this game needed more time to be ironed out. You can tell this was rushed by some blatant glitches in such a supposedly high-quality game,

Argh... I don't think Steam is very fond of Black Ops, it keeps crashing at random (and, usually, crucial moments). And the server browser is being so horribly horribly sh!t - I can't see anything but the same (well, I assume most are the same) 500 out of 10,000 servers.

At least things perk up a little once I can get into the game (provided Steam doesn't decide to crash, and leave me pissed off )

And I lost 4 levels (and My Recent Games isn't showing any of the boards.ie TDM games) after last night... /sigh

Its annoying the way the facepaint and stuff is unlocked at such a high level. It kinda defeats the purpose of the currency when you cant buy everything when you can afford it you stil have to level up to it.

Trying to get my PS3 into NAT1 is stressful. Already have it in DMZ but still not fixed. Lag isn't really an issue. But I assume it will run even better in NAT1.

Buy a subscription online, e.g. here for £32 for a years subscription and the code will be
e-mailed to you. That will give you Xbox Live Gold which is required to play online. Silver is the basic package, and its free but you can't play online with it.
To setup, will depend on which Xbox you have and your home setup, but basic setup is, plug in ethernet cable from your router into the back of the Xbox and try play online, you should be prompted to setup a live connection. Also, if its a new (by new I mean purchased new, not second hand) console, you should get a free 1 month trial of Gold when you do this, which you can use to play online.
If your home network is wireless, and you've and old type xbox, you'll need a wireless adapter like this. The new Xbox Slims have wireless built in.

Thanks a million Mcgovern, i know the score now.My xbox would be the old one so im gonna need one of those wireless adapters if im to go ahead with the gold package.
Im really tempted to go for it!:D whats your opinion of ONLINE LIVE, do you get good use of it?I think I would when iv no one to play multiplayer with.trying to justify the spend on the wireless adapter it the only thing preventing me now.its not the cost of it all, id pay double if i knew id get the use of it.its justifying it...u know?so basically is it REALLY GOOD CRAIC ONLINE?just tell me it is and il go for it.lol :)

For me its a must have, even if I only play online once a week, its cost me less than a euro. It's especially good if you are playing with people you know IRL, so far I've not heard many talking in Black Ops compared to MW/MW2, but regardless, it will add hours and hours of longevity onto games you do play online.

There was only 400k online , in comparison to the 1.5 million on the 360 with no lag problems.

    You Eircom mate?
    If so...

NAT 1 is most definitely the way to go. I couldn't barely play any games especially EA games on NAT 3 two years back.

I havent managed to play the game yet - Im abroad and wont be home for another 3 or 4 weeks. Having said that, I was so pumped for this release. MW2 is still in my drive at home since last Xmas but having read these worrying comments and feedback, Im so disappointed and I havent even picked up a copy.:(

On a side note - regarding MW3, whats going to happen with that....last I heard, infinity Ward kicked the bucket...:(so I dont think well be getting another Modern Warfare...

    RIP MW

Did you get into the same game as myself and headshot ? I got hit with an rc-car and got kicked same thing stuttering constantly, the same when i went into a random mtdm  and as usual local only in the settings .

Uh! This game is such a sponge!! You would be shooting someback in the back and they would turn and kill you in 2 bullets! Its crazy. And about 3/4 of the deaths i get in a match are from people killing me from behind, its like a constant flanking game!

I'd pay extra for prepubescents to be banned from this game.
