Modern Family does come close IMO. Sitcoms these days are absolutely terrible but Modern Family is brilliant.

It's the funniest, smartest comedy in decades. The in-jokes and recurring motifs are genius without being pretentious, and there's not one single weak link in the casting.

The best comedy bar none imo.

Just so damn clever, which was it's downfall considering the country it aired in. The average American was too stupid to cop on to the bits of blue paint randomly spotted about the house, or the fact there was always a note on the refrigerator. They'd rather watch Homer Simpson say D'oh again.

Iv just restarted watching all the DVDs from the beginning and its still amazing.

My favourite sitcom of all time. Hopefully there'll be a movie, though it's been rumoured for years.

In no order but the three best of past 10 years, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Peep Show and Arrested Development.

I've never been able to get into Peep Show, I do like it but I watch it on 4oD in bursts. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is brilliant. I'd add HIMYM to the list though as it's the closest to AD as we have at the moment, it has recurring in jokes at least.

Sorry I've watched all of HIMYM and it's nowhere near the same league as Arrested Development.

I didn't say it was, I said it's the closest we have right now

It really is the smartest sitcom of them all.

Just remembered there the episode George SR was living in the attic and keeping hitting his head, couple of episodes late he hits his head again but has a towel wrapped around it and pulls a smug face to michael

I think thats it,been a while since I seen them

Scrolled down through the thread amazed Curb had not been mentioned. Thank you! Far and away the greatest comedy of my generation.

Arrested Development is excellent too though in its own right.

    I 2nd that.

    And 3rd it too.

A show trying to be as funny as Arrested Development.....(wait for it)....

    COME ON!!!!

Sorry but HIMYM comes nowhere close. It is funny, but not intelligent. Which is what AD was.

And the point about American families just not understanding the show is entirely true.

For a show to be that stupid, it has to be that intelligent.
    Greatest thing I've ever watched.

Haven't watched enough Curb to comment and I'm gonna get me some Always Sunny In Philidelphia.

    Cheers.

Hopefully the AD movie will some day be made.

    Greatest show ever!! :D

Still watching this on FX at the moment, and it really is brilliant due to the terrific cast and writing. It's hard to believe it got cancelled, or even took this long for a station to get the re-run rights.

    NOOOO!!!!

It was probably one of the best sit-coms ever, but let it go... they've been away too long... Re-uniting the cast is a bad idea, no good can come of it I tells ya!

I love the way Michael treats George Michaels Girlfriend, Ann. Hilarious! Does AD get any sort of proper ending?

Has anyone seen any of Running Wilde?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Running_Wilde

Already cancelled :( I'm beginning to hate Fox.
But brilliant nonetheless.. I got my hands on every episode, and like an idiot, watched them all already.. :(
Will watch them again, but wished i had taken my time..

I have heard Rumours that Either HBO or Showtime are buying the rights for the next few seasons, but can't find any info on that right now.

As for the Arrested Development Movie...
    It's happening.. :D:D:D

I have read more information on it somewhere, but here is a good start. LINK
