There's actually loads I left off the list, and even more than that that I haven't got on my computer.

I can't have one single "favourite," movies are like any other form of art, you can love a load of different things for a load of different reasons. That's also why I don't really have one distinct genre or theme I stick to.

Oh I always, always love Crouching Tiger. The women fighting against the norms, and so much symbolism and metaphor. And the kick ass martial arts!!
    The illusionist.

    I like labyrinth also!
Oh and V for vendetta, wow.

I see a few mentions of Up, I only saw it recently, it was so touching.

I thought the bourne movies were kick ass.
    And Chocolat!

    There's probably loads I've forgotten.

But yeah I think crouching tiger, illusionist and v for vendetta are my top ones.

I hate watching things twice so there's very few movies I'd watch more than once. However, these would make my list:

The Star Wars Trilogy (such a feelgood movie)
Back to the Future I (childhood classic)
    The Goonies (another childhood classic)
Shrek I & II (always makes me giggle "cake got layers":D )
    The Princess Bride (EVERY Christmas!)
Fight Club (I've watched half a dozen times and love Helena Bonham Carter in it, and just love Edward Norton in general)
Hot Fuzz ("He's NOT Judge Judy and executioner!":p)
Kill Bill I & II (the music and ass-kicking really!)

Even movies I love I don't like to watch again, so the ones in my list normally make me laugh!

Have you seen [REC.] 2 yet? Saw it over the weekend, and it's surprisingly good. It lifts the veil a bit on the whole mystique of the first film, but makes up for it by being really creepy and quite action-packed. Look at it this way. Alien was a horror, and Aliens was an action film. [REC.] 1 & 2 kinda follow a similar path.

    As for my own list...

    2001: A Space Odyssey
    The Big Lebowski
    In The Mood For Love
    Memento
    Apocalypse Now
    Seven Samurai
    Blade Runner
    Y Tu Mama Tambien
    Dr. Strangelove
    Yojimbo
    Sanjuro (hence the username)
    Annie Hall
    2046
    Badlands
    Dead Man's Shoes
    Die Hard
    Raiders Of The Lost Ark
    Ringu
    The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

    la-la-la-la-la-la... etc.

I saw the second one, but I didn't like it all that much, mainly because it was completely focused on the only part of [REC.] that I didn't love--
    the religious aspect, demons etc.
It was much more frightening to me when it was either
    unexplained or some disease
    .. I can't take the whole
    demon spirit thing
    seriously at all!

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,236 ✭✭✭Sanjuro

    Usually, I'd agree. The whole
    possession
thing has been done to death. However, I thought the whole idea of
    possession through infection
was pretty novel. Maybe it's because I was expecting something muck that I was impressed. Sure, it wasn't amazing. And as horrors go, it's wasn't very horror-ry, but what can I say?! I liked it!

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (Have never found anyone else who likes this movie! such a classic :o)

Eh, me. I love that film! Bless your beautiful hide.

I can never pick a favourite film. Depending on what mood I'm in I want different things.

    • Any Disney movie (basically so I can have a good weep. Usually at the happy, inappropriate bits. When Mufasa dies, not a sniffle. When Simba climbs pride rock and roars, floods.)
    • Lars and the real girl
    • See no evil, hear no evil
    • Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory (original)
    • Homeward Bound
    • Calamity Jane: Or any Doris day film for that matter
    • Imitation of life
    • Die Hard
    • 28 days later
    • The Woodcutter
    • When Harry met Sally
    • City Slickers
    • Lord of the Rings (So excited for the Hobbit!)
It's so hard to think of movies off hand. Still. I really hope they make the emperor series by Conn Iggulden into movies. It would be class. Although, movies tend to ruin books. Like The golden Compass and Eragon. love the books, hate the films.

    Okay, enough ranting!
