Hi, I have some family staying over christmas and 2 kids are 6/9 so i want to get some dvds in for them for the rainy days when they cant do much else. Whats good for kids this age?

Id say anything Disney and Disney pixar, if they are girls defo try and get your hands on some Disney princess movies, Little Mermaid, beauty and the beast, cinderella etc and some barbie moives and tinkerbell has a few movies of her own at the moment. If they are both boys the Iron Giant has to be a must. if its a boy and a girl like that most disney pixar will entertain them, finding nemo, up, cars, ice age etc.

How to train your dragon and Toy Story 3 should be out before christmas. Personally didn't think much of Toy Story, but How to Train Your Dragon is excellent, though I think it'll be deminished somewhat on the small screen. Shrek 4 will also be out by then. It's better than the third one. Nanny McPhee & The Big Bang should also be out by then. I've heard good things about it.

I wish I had discovered Studio Ghibli films as a kid! I love them now, probably would have watched them even more obsessively as a child! Their most recent film Ponyo is also fantastic, but My Neighbour Totoro is probably the best kids film ever made. DVD has both subtitles and surprisingly decent dub for younger kids who wouldn't dig the subs.

I'd also +1 a lot of other suggestions like The Neverending Story and The Iron Giant. All the Pixar stuff is pretty much solid gold (except cars, which is only silver ). How To Train Your Dragon is one of the better family films of the year as well.

No, they werent creepy, like Coraline, its a kids movie but creepy id show it to a 10 year old but not a 7 year old.
