Right lads, I'm in a bit of a pickle here, I'm not sure what to do.

My Da wanted a new computer for a bit of business work so I specced him an office machine (i3, 8gb ram etc) from hardwareversand. I included the Fractal Core 1000 case. He also wanted it ready made, plug-in-and-play (he has come from a line of Dells) so I got them to assemble it.

Well, it arrived today (I happened to be there at the time) and he plugged it in. I went into the BIOS (he also asked for Windows installed and stuff) and looked to see if the SSD was first to boot. It wasn't there. I went to open the case (Yes I did remove the thumbscrews) and it wouldn't budge. Nip, nada, nothing. I used a lot of force to the point of possibly damaging something. I tried the other side as I was able to see through the back of the case a cable was missing from the SSD. But, that side wouldn't move either.

So, what do I do? I am really at a loss as it just won't move, and I'm hardly going to pay or send it back.

    TL;DR: I'm weak :p

    Use an axe.

Okay okay. Make sure you are trying to open in the right way. I mean maybe doors slide the other way then the way you try. Happened once to me with my dell.

According to Youtube, the Core 1000 doors just pull straight back, as standard.

Can you get the front panel off? (from bottom, usually) You might be able to push the door out from the inside that way.

I had the same problem with the same fractal 1000 case, very difficult to open it the first time on both sides. Bent the catches slightly before putting it back on again, still snug but can open now without Hulk levels of pressure.

Anyone ever get a problem on their pc when installing things, it just hangs and makes no progress?
For instance I downloaded 7 zip today and I am trying to install it but it's just hanging there. Happened with a few other programs before.

ha. i once found 533 pieces of malware and spyware. it was a PC that had crawled to a stop, which took several minutes to open a browser. it was used like that for a few years with no firewall or AV.

I do a scan 2-3 times a week with Malwarebytes, usually about 5 viruses each time.
Surprised thats all really, I download so much crap, most of it from dodgy looking websites.

I've been using windows for over a year now, was using OSX, and I've only had one. A keylogger but, it was completely my fault for clicking on a link when chrome was warning me not to. MSE went nuts and cleaned it so I was OK.

I don't have any sort of anty virus for last 5-6 years.
In that time I got only once key logged and that was because of wow and some very crafty letter that I needed ignore. My own fault to be honest.

I did a search and destroy scan few days ago, because I almost got cought by fecking "babilon tool bar" yoke. So after a scan I had 20 cookie trackers or what they called. Not bad considering pc is up 5 months with no antivirus and firewall down. :)
Though I am very rare guest on dodgy websites. I am only on official websites and gaming mostly.

There are plenty of ambidextrous ones, like the Razer Deathadder.

New TF2 video covering the Insomnia 43 LAN last August in Telford, UK. Can't wait for this summer's i46!

I got a wee bit bored. So decided to try and overclock my gpu for shots and giggles.

So I put up not too high overclock of 115% power
Offset of 100mhz ( core goes up to 1200mhz now )
    Ram 500mhz

So that was my first ever try at it amd looks like it was stable. On heaven anyway.
So heaven 2.5 score went from 2000 to 2270.

Found 3d mark 11 on same settings now. Did not crashed so far!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,924 ✭✭✭✭ShadowHearth

well just did the 3d mark 11. got a score of 9479 with that setup. did not crashed. i guess its good score?
