Anyone here live in King's Island?

Know of anything fun to do there? Aside from King John's Castle...

I won't have a car so I'm looking for fun things to do and cool people to meet in walking distance of nicholas street.

    Thanks a million! :D

sadly Nicholas street has been left go to the dogs recently. There are a lot of empty shops there. This is in the medieval quarter of Limerick city, so has a lot of history and stuff. Before they brought in the one-way system there it was quite a busy area of Limerick but I'm going back 10/15 years now. There is an arcade and pool rooms up there in a place called stix. Can be rough enough sometimes but if your fiance is from there, ye will probably have no worries. Nicholas street is a 2/3 minute walk from the main city centre, so in essence you are pretty much in the city centre without the traffic noise and high buildings.

I'm about a 7 minute walk from Nicholas' Street. A relative noob to Limerick myself (here since March), found the people to be friendly and welcoming :D
    Will see you round hopefully!

Kings Island sounds nice but to be fair its not the nicest of areas. I certainly dont like being near the place when its dark other than driving through from one place to another.

Within walking distance could be the nice(ish) walk which will take you out the Corbally road, turn down the Mill road to "the ducks" and along the riverbank bringing you out onto the Corbally road at the Athlunkard Bridge. You can continue this walk through the Shannon fields following along the Canal which will eventually bring you back to Kings Island(more or less).

Or then again walk into the City.

    Hi,
I'm from Kings Island myself. You could check out King johns castle,Limerick city museum,St.Marys cathedral,Hunt museum on Patrick St and a nice walk over Thomond bridge and follow the river down Clancy and O'Callaghan strand which is nice on a sunny day.
P.S. any chance we can swap social security numbers so I can nip off to the states and get work while you are here.:)Either you are crazy or seriously in love moving to Limerick,I am a proud native but the place is slowly dying:(.
Best of luck and hope you enjoy your stay.

so what pubs do y'all drink at?

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,097 ✭✭✭✭zuroph

pubs?! lah dee dah! house drinkings where its at.

The locke will be close by to you for a chilled enough atmosphere, attracts all ages. Up town to mickeys, tom collins for decent pints, or Bakers for rock music.

Sadly Stix got rid of the arcade and snooker/pool tables and replaced them with a casino, sad times used to love going up for a game of pool but if your looking for game of pool the cauldron pub up the road have a table upstairs and nice pints. Stix still does food, cant beat a good ol stix special with seasoning...:D
