for the moment i have the numark omni control which is really good to use and easy to move on the go. With that i have it hooked up to traktor pro 2 on the macbook pro. In a week or 2 i'll be getting the pioneer CDJ's and DJM 350's. looking forward for that!.

    for studio i use:
    imac 24'inch
    Reason 5
    oxygen8 midi keyboard
    trigger finger
    sennheiser HD201 headphones

Anyone think thats a decent setup or half assed in a way that still makes me look like a beginner..?

not too sure, just fancy a change.

torn between selling one of my motorbikes and buying cdjs or just buying something to mess around with.

If you want something to mess around with, get 1210s, you'll stretch way more hours out of learning to use them than CDJs, and with more satisfaction! The price different will also pay for a big crate of records.

I've never had a problem to call them ****e before, used the DJM 400, 600, 700 & 800 and all have held their value. Some over 5 years old (Not mine personally so could of been knocked around the place for all I know) and still working perfect. Opposed to some Numark, Citronic, Gemini ones i've used with sound glitches and terrible equalisers built into them.

I've heard Denon do some quality mixers as well the the Xone range by Allen & Heath.

Terrible??? Are you listening through some crappy earbuds or 10euro speakers by any chance? How terrible can they be?? I haven't been disappointed by my own DJM 500 (5-6 years on the go) nor by any of the pioneer mixers I have heard in clubs. There are a ton of things that will affect the sound and it may not be the mixer - quality of recording, mp3, WAV, worn in vinyl, new vinyl, type of needles/brand/whatever, all the leads used in the set-up, the amp, the speakers, headphones, your own hearing, your earwax or anything else you may have in there!

In fairness, all their mixers up until the 800 sounded pants. The 800 sounds great (I used to own one) but it's a little bright and sharp for my liking (it's 24bit digital). Can't beat the sound of A&H - warm, smooth yet beautifully punchy. I also did a side by side test with the 800 when I had both for a short time. The filters also sh*t on all the FX on the Pioneers all put together! :pac:
