Project pinball machines worth the time or just money pits? I know nothing about them but I'd love to get my hands on one, and maybe project is the only way to go since most restored machines very expensive
    Definitely worth the time.
My machine was lying on racking in a printing warehouse for over 10years. When I got it it looked like crap, was manky, all rubbers needed to be replaced and a bit of soldering work.
I spent a total of about 150 to bring it up like new. It took about 4 weeks.
There is a thread on here somewhere with pictures. Parts are actually quite cheap and readily available from loads of websites which all ship to Ireland.

hmm, might be something I'd consider. Well if i see a good deal for a project I'll take it

You just give that playfield a good wash or what? I always see them and they look really sunfaded a lot of the time on machines, or is it just dirt?

If they look faded I'd say they are just dirty, Dust builds up fast and turns to a hard film.
I gave every part on mine a good clean using novus plastic cleaner, Polished using non abrasive car polish then waxed using a carnuba car wax.
The wax really brings them up like a mirror. Mine has a mylar(skin) over the playfield to prevent wear. I am considering removing this and getting the playfield clear lacquered 5 or 6 times, most collectors do this and it looks awesome
