Technically they can appeal but even the judge said there's no point...

"Archway, the owners of the last remaining land to be acquired for the stadium site, requested permission to appeal the judgment and this was refused by Mr Justice Dove who concluded that an appeal had no reasonable prospect of success. Archway now have 21 days in which to apply to the Court of Appeal."

Yeah they might not even appeal, and if they do they will surely surely lose.

    Looks very like game over.

We still need to figure out where we're gonna play once the current stadium is unavailable, aren't we?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,746 ✭✭✭irishmover

Sorry must have interpreted the tweet from inside the court incorrectly. Guessing the judge said there's no point in appealing and not they can't appeal.

Wonder how long it'll take to start it properly.

In regards moving grounds. The plans may have changed but we were going to remain at WHL with a reduced capacity. Didn't they propose a development with knocking some of the stand at a time whilst maintaining HS&E thus being sbke to keep the ground open? It may have changed. I also heard other rumours of MK Dons ground ......

Archways decided that they will not be appealing and admitted defeat.

Construction on the stadium will have to start soon.

    Seriously excited by this news.

    http://www.24dash.com/news/communities/2015-03-30-All-eyes-on-June-as-Spurs-announce-key-date-for-new-stadium?
Tottenham Hotspur will be clear to start work in earnest on its new stadium from June, the club has announced.

Haringey Council is to take possession of the last remaining parcels of land subject to compulsory purchase orders from June 5, including the Archway Sheet Metal Works site, which has been the subject of a lengthy legal battle.

In its financial statement, the club revealed: "Haringey Council has now started the legal CPO process that will culminate with the land price being determined by the Lands Chamber of the Upper Tribunal.

"On 6 March 2015 the council published and served a Notice of Intention to execute a General Vesting Declaration in respect of the CPO land (which includes the Archway land). Service of this notice allows Haringey Council to execute a General Vesting Declaration from 7 May 2015.

"This will allow the council to take possession of all remaining parcels of land under the CPO from 5 June 2015."

The statement also provided an update on the club's involvement in the wider Northumberland Development Project, which includes the new stadium.

It said: "The club has been actively engaged with developments that contribute to the uplift of the local area. To date we have delivered Brook House, in partnership with Newlon Housing Trust, which has 23 floors of shared ownership housing along with a new primary school.

"We have also completed Phase 1 of the NDP, Lilywhite House, which comprises a major new Sainsbury’s, a University Technical College and our new club offices.

"Visitors to the stadium will have seen the extensive site clearance work underway in preparation for the new stadium."

Meanwhile, the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation has announced that a former residential townhouse in North Tottenham, owned by the club since June 2007, will be restored as a new community venue thanks to a £1.8 million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), along with match funding from Tottenham Hotspur.

The club's charitable arm has been awarded the grant to turn Percy House, a prominent 18th century building on Tottenham High Road, in to a hub for enterprise, skills and training, creating sustainable, long-term education and employment opportunities for local people as part of the Club’s commitment to the development and regeneration of North Tottenham.

Sue Bowers, Head of HLF London, said: “Historic buildings like Percy House have incredible potential to act as a driver of regeneration and economic growth. With Heritage Enterprise HLF is enabling local communities and businesses to tap into that potential by covering the high costs of restoring vacant and underused heritage buildings - making them fit-for-purpose as commercial, and therefore sustainable, spaces.”

Grant Cornwell, chief executive of the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, said: “We are extremely grateful to the Heritage Lottery Fund for awarding this grant for the restoration of Percy House, and to the club for supporting us to find a long-term use for this major heritage asset in the area.

“This fantastic scheme will play a significant role in the regeneration of Tottenham, supporting local residents and a creating a centre for employment, social cohesion, training and heritage in Haringey, allowing the Foundation to enhance its role in building the future prospects of our community.”

The Percy House Enterprise Regeneration Project will transform the economic and social prospects of one of the most disadvantaged communities in the country, delivering over 95,000 hours of community development, health, enterprise, education and sports programmes every year.

The Percy House community hub will include:

    Tottenham Hotspur Foundation offices
    Heritage Learning Zone
    Foundation Degree programme
    Employment and Skills provision
    Heritage exhibition space
Built on the site of The Black House, a mansion demolished in the early 1740s and whose inhabitants, the Percy family, were connected to the namesake of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club - Harry Hotspur, the Grade II* listed building played a pioneering role in the launch of the pirate radio movement in the 1960s.

Paxton road looks closed/nuked now. Things moving fast.

I'm guessing the North Stand will be the last section of the new stadium to be built, like the original plan. But even then it won't be long before we're seeing WHL shut forever.

Minimum of 2 NFL games per year, 10 year partnership.

Seems like a win win for Levy and the board. Very little required, raises the profile of the stadium, and brings in tons of money.

#thfc It's all happening today. Spurs have agreed a 10-year partnership with the NFL, with at least 2 games a year at the new stadium.

They just announced the capacity is 61000. Pretty high, so that should bring in some nice revenue.

Nike Hart Lane for me! :-)

If only it was the NHL we did the deal with...

I think the new stadium looks better again. Keeping the one tier stand is a big plus and then increasing to 61k is great.

Cannot wait for it to be finished!

That just hit me.. How bloody good is that?

Is it in honour of the double team?

Emirates is 60,234 and we just wanted to exceed theirs is what I assumed.

61k is a nice gesture to the team but it wouldn't take much for arsenal to add another couple of thousand seats and then they will eclipse us again.

How great is this? Finally some transparency from the club over the stadium.

This one in particular caught my eye.

Q: What are the plans to ensure our new stadium preserves and develops a distinct ‘Tottenham Hotspur’ personality and to protect our heritage?

THFC is reactivating the Heritage committee, which includes fans, to ensure we retain our history in an ultra modern stadium. The Museum will provide a natural place for many THFC artefacts and a showcase for the Club’s great history, also.

Amazing ambition, its a very impressive design.

Taking the NFL from Wembley is a good idea.
