I think you might be mixing up Sako and Nokia. Both Finnish, but they make very different things. ;)

Yep and, last time I heard, Nokia and SAKO had nothing to do with each other.

The closest link I can find is that Nokia part-owned Sako but sold it to Metso who sold it to Beretta.

Beretta, as far as I can tell, is still privately owned by the Beretta family.

I knew there was some tie up with Nokia, and Valmet tractors too!

Guards Weapons and Engineering Ltd was founded in 1921 an earlier, 1919 in Helsinki, established Yliesikunnan guard armory on the bottom and transferred to Riihimäki. After the Continuation War Sako was owned by the Finnish Red Cross. Nokia Oy, a company's predecessor, Finnish Cable Works Ltd acquired a fine in 1962 and bought a Nokia Tikkakoski Ltd in 1974. Nokia joined Group Ltd Sako, Tikka Ab in 1983. In 1985, Sako, Tikka, was merged into Nokia.

Nokia and Valmet Tourula armaments factory (formerly the State Rifle Factory) joined Nokia in 1986 and equally owned by Valmet Sako-Valmet Oy. The name was changed back to Sako Ltd. in 1988. Nokia sold its shares in Outokumpu to Valmet in January 1999. Valmet and Rauma fusions Sako joined in 1999, Metso Group. Metso in turn sold the fine in 2000, an Italian arms manufacturers Beretta
