Tasco, Hawke, Swift, Bushnell Banner, and Weaver. These are all decent makes and plenty good enough for a .22lr for hunting. They would be €250 at most for the expensive model, but as its going on a .22lr and there is no recoil to speak of i wouldn't go huge money on a scope.

Now if you have plenty of money i would stick with the higher end scopes including some of the models listed above. Such as Leupold, Bushnel Elite, Burris Black Diamond, etc.

Its really a choice of what your budget is and what you prefer.

No such thing as too powerful!

I know a boy who shoots .22lr target on a fixed power 40mag weaver scope!

From a previous post of mine:
A few "local" ones to get you started. Have used, Sports Man Gun Centre and Duffy's for online buying and would recommned both (as per my experience of them).

Have used GMK once and although slow and poor for communicating they are not bad. I used a "franchise" of theirs rather than direct buying so i added that under their link.

With regards to the rest i haven't used them, but they're Irish and close to home so shipping should be small or non-existant.

Sports Man Gun Centre - Dorset (UK) - (Personally recommend them)

    GMK - Hampshire (UK)
    McCloys - Antrim

    Duffy's - Galway

    Survival Ireland - Mayo

    iSports - Dundalk (i think)

    best4 optics - Lancashire (UK)

No. You can vary the power so gives the best of both worlds. Short and semi long range.

I have used/tried a few scopes on my CZ 22lr from a Nikko Nighteater 8-32x60, Bushnell 6-18, bushnell 4-12, to what I use now is a fixed Bushnell 3200 elite 10x40 with target turrets.
I think that the 6-18 is still a little over the top for your 22lr and you should try something in the 4-12x40/50 range.
My son is using a Bushnell 3200 elite 4-12x40, my old one, which he finds very good.
What I now find using the 10x40 is that there is not any fiddling to do with the scope, just rise the scope to the eye and aim.

ive got a Hawke 3-12x44 with a SR6 Reticle. its brilliant for the .22 it has 6 aim points and when zeroed at 60yrds set at 12 mag each crosshair below centre is 10yrds- 60-70-80-90-105-115 . Theres a map pro too, have a look at these and the youtube clip.

im thinking of getting on of these, will it be much use on a 22mag

mine only goes to 16 and i use it a 8 almost all of the time. i have a 6-24 on the .223 and its good on the longer shots in the day, but at night i wouldnt use it past 14 as the image gets quite dark. if your doing a bit of target shooting down the field the high zoom is good for the tight groups
