What OS are you using? I know previously some people had trouble in XP. Think a few had some in Vista too. Windows 7 seems to do the trick perfect.

Try this, its a patch for omnia drivers. Samsung phones always have problems with drivers for some reasons. So sammy released a driver update for it :)

I'm running Win7. I applied the Samsung patch before but I did it again today just in case (can't hurt, right? :)). Now when I run Zune, it says I don't have an update waiting (7392 is my current version). Back to the waiting list :-/

Just been messing about here trying to get the custom ringtones, heres how to get them:
    1. Download Audacity here http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
    2. Install it
    3. Open it, and Click and drag whatever song you want to create a ringtone from and drop it in the main grey area in Audacity
    4. Let it load up the waveform of the song
    5. Next find and decide what part of the song you want to be the ringtone. It has to be less than 39 seconds long to work as a ringtone by the way.
    6. Now at the bottom of audacity, select your time line; what I find handiest to do is, select the start point of the ring tone you want, then enter the time in the "selection start" box.
    7. Next, change the button beside that from "End" to "Length". Then under that, enter the length you want the ringtone to last for.
    8. Next, go to Edit -> press Cut. Select File -> New -> Edit -> Paste
    9. Go to File -> Export. Name your ringtone, then select Options on the right of the window. Press the "save as type" drop down list, and select MP3 files.
    10. Change quality to 128kps I advise. Select Joint stereo if you prefer. Press OK, then Save it.
    11. In the Edit metadata pop up window, leave everything empty apart from Genre. In genre enter "Ringtone". Select Ok.
    12. Open Zune on your PC. Connect phone via usb. In collection, under unknown artist at the top of all your other artists, the ringtone should be there. Click and drag it into your phone on the bottom left to sync it.
    13. Disconnect phone and on your phone, go to settings -> ringtones -> ringtone and at the top under custom should be your ringtone.
    Done. :)

    TuneIn Radio

The best radio app for Windows Phone has been updated to support Mango and best of all its FREE.

It might be an idea for someone to start a thread and add in any apps they know that have been updated to support Mango.

Just found out you can pin radio stations to the start screen! :D

As an FYI, there's reports on XDA that people forcing the update using the trick are not getting their drivers updated. Haven't had a chance to catch up with everything, but from what I read in the lead up to release, Mango should come as a 2 part update including Mango itself from Microsoft, and driver/other firmware updates from the OEM. I'm guessing that forcing the update only gets the Mango/Microsoft part, not the OEM bundle too. This may also be deliverable as a seperate update, so you might be able to get a notification and update just the OEM part later.

From reading the thread you can see that some people who did a forced update got the new firmware, some people who did the forced update didn't get the firmware update, some people who's phones automatically updated received the firmware update and some peoples phones that automatically updated didn't get the firmware update.

So that thread doesn't really explain much. You'll see here that some people who where not on Mango RTM received 2 updates. Anyone on Mango RTM would have received only one update, the firmware update which is what I got. Forcing the update make's no difference.

my phone fell on the floor mid update. The battery came out.

Now I get the picture of the laptop with the cable running to the phone and the arrow with the red circle and line.

Nothing else. Zune won't detect it and turning the phone on and off makes no difference. Any ideas?

Something like this happened to me, left the update running over lunch, and when I came back, the PC had "lost contact" with the phone.

Rebooted phone and PC a few times, and then just left it connected for a while and it righted itself...

I have forced an upgrade but when I attempt to install Tunein Radio it tells me that my software is not up to date.

I wonder how, when Mango is released properly for my HTC 7 Pro, I will be able to install the HTC firmware.

Doesn't sound like you got any Mango update. The problem in the other post has to do with firmware drivers for the model of the phone. This would not cause a problem with installing any mango apps but you would have a problem running Mango apps that need drivers updated on the phone, for example the Compass app.

Out of interest, how did you realise there was an update?
I use this app and think its da bizz. However when I launched it today (with Mango on the phone) there was no update message. I launched the Marketplace and no note to say I have updates waiting!!

Is it pure luck you know there is an update?

Colour me very confused! My phone never got the OTA update message but Zune tried to update my phone (which failed). Later, when I tried again, Zune said there was no update for me. Later again, my phone got the OTA update message but now Zune says it's up to date already (7392).

The phone only refreshes for updates every once in a while.

If it did it constantly battery life would be reduced :)

Try just going to the app in the marketplace. If theres an update button down the bottom it means it just hasnt refreshed yet. But you can still get it :)

If there is no update you will only see share button

Definitely had some form of update. Holding back button gives multiple apps, friends groups, web url at the bottom of the screen etc.

I tried to update Tunein and was told that I already have the most up to date, even though that was the 1. version. So I uninstalled and tried to update and was told my phone software was not up to date.

I think I will just restore back to the previous software and wait for the official HTC update.

I have an LG Optimus 7 which I updated to Mango. I was hoping that the update would fix the problem of not being able to send and receive MMS messages. Is the only way of fixing that to flash my phone with the Euro Open Firmware? If I have to does that mean I have to reinstall the updates?

No, It's really easy to get it working. All you need is the LG network Setup App and then re-set the apn.

    Like I said here

Problems today (after yesterdays Mango update) - I've the bargain alerts German LG e900.
I lost the Vodafone data connection, although the vodafone.ie apn was still entered and correct. After a lot of time on the phone with vodafone today they gave me a vodafone.com apn and it worked straight away.
Also, and annoyingly, when you 'lock' the phone with the power button, the phone will come back 'on' if you press the windows button....very annoying if you have the phone in a protective leather case!
Battery life is still sh1te, I know that is not the fault of Mango, but cmon, it's totally rubbish! I have location, bluetooth and wifi turned off during the day, and the phone was dead by 4pm.

I probably should have read properly before posting :o I'd been wondering if forcing the update could cause something like that so when I spotted the threads on XDA just assumed I was right.

Anyway just plugged my phone (Omnia 7 on Vodafone, but originally from 3) into zune and it prompted me to update so Mango on the way now.

Ok well after lots of messing this evening I've managed to upgrade to mango on my HD7 and keep it chevron unlocked (bloody nightmare), but because of the method I used I didn't get the firmware portion (for example, mango compass apps are unsupported). I expect I'll have to wait for it to come through on its own via Zune in the coming weeks, or wait for xda to figure it out ;-)

Meanwhile, mango is great. Multitasking is implemented in a very smart way. So many great apps too. A new lease on life for a year old phone!

Also, I contacted the Navigon team and they're saying their offline gps nav software will be out this week. It looks incredible, and is especially handy for us poor Irish and our lame implementation of Bing maps..

No need to send me an mms to prove it works, I believe you. :D

Maybe the mango update has fixed something else? mms has been working for me since I flashed the open firmware on to my LG. if some other LG users who have updated to Mango and don't have working mms could try this and let us know the results it could be very helpful.

I'd happily try it, I have mango and haven't flashed to the open firmware, but I'm on Meteor, not vodafone. Can I still test it or??

I made the mistake of trying to use my Windows Phone with the Windows 8 Developer Preview. The phone started acting strangely and wouldn't connect to Zune. It would also delete media that I'd added to it, like music albums.

I had to re-install Windows 7, flash the phone's firmware and install Zune in that order to get it to work again. In practice though it took two OS re-installs, several Zune installs and another firmware flash before it finally worked.

...And now I'm installing Mango. It was worth it. :D

When I try to launch that app I get an ADC error and then when I check the list for supported carriers no Irish carriers are listed?

In your setting go to about and see what carrier your phone is listed as.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 96 ✭✭Boo_hoo

You have to disable ADC in MFG Engineer menu before using it. For me the App automatically found Vodafone 272-01 which is Ireland.

Though as I said before I don't think Meteor or O2 are working..

My carrier is "vodafone" in Settings>about

If I go to MFG>Engineer Menu> Other Setting> view Current Profile I can see the settings for mms and Vodafone.ie

On a side not I just updated 15 of my apps and am coming to regret it, So many of the updates just added more adverts, completely ruining many of them.

    .

Did you get this phone from Germany? I'm pretty sure the carrier should say Vodafone.de.

I'm on the 3 network and no matter what trick I tried I could not get mms working. After flashing to the European Open firmware I had it working in about 5 mins.

The Find My Phone site has also gotten a makeover. It seems to be really responsive and reliable now, and Ireland is listed in the message countries. Very tasty! :D
