well saying it's non existant is wrong. It's just very weak in mk compared to other games I played. imo mk is very zoning, frame trap and rush down orientated.

now id say the zoning in mk is alot weaker that its footsies, only two chars can with with pure zoning, kenshi and freddy every ones elses can be easily dealt with, 2/3 dash blocks and your in and very few projectiles have pushback which i think weakens it also,with most chars its just a way to keep the life lead,not a way to win,well not anymore anyways
yes id agree its a game that favours the aggressor because of the chip damage and the dogdy blocking system but arnt all FGs about frame traps?
i also think this game is crazy big on pokes because of the chip damage,u cant just stand there and block all day or your going to lose alot of life

edit:kabal could go in with kenshi and freddy 2

I'll agree with both of you.

When I was playing MK9 I found footsies quite good but mostly unused by a lot of players.

Footsies isn't just the 2 ppl pressing normals and one trying to outpoke the other guy. Footsies is the space you control with your opponent, anti airs and movement to force your opponent into a mistake. Anti airing is a major part in footsies.
You could say Dhalsim zones but its just another form of footsies when you see someone outpoke his limb from full screen. Sagats tiger shots act as limbs just like sims as does all projectile chars or safe specials when used right. MK9 has footsies its just not like a Capcom game of footsies. Look at high level tekken. Players movement in that game is insane. Is someone gonna say tekken has no footsies? I dont play much tekken but it seems like crazy movement to control space and apply pressure, aas arent really in that game.
