I agree /b/ has a huge and very impressive cult following. The power of Anonymous is unrivaled. Speaking about 4chan is considered taboo and we're all going to hell for it now. In an example of their power, let's talk about two incidences.....

Firstly, NASA were naming a spaceship which they are to launch in 2011. On their website they had a poll which /b/ raided and over 1 million people submitted the outside name "Battle Toad", which is an old video game.

Secondly, there was a famous beauty competition in the U.S and /b/ rigged the votes so that a really obese girl won the whole thing over several attractive wannabee celebrity women, leading to said wannabee celebrity women making YouTube videos to try and stop the madness.

I think, if there's any forum that resembles 4chan in any way, shape or form, it would probably be the Misc. I used to workout and found this...

There are chans much much worse... 4chan is moderated so it's fairly safe.

4chan does possess great power, but it's lost in all the Asian porn. Not that I don't like Asian porn. Boards could probably wield such power in Ireland, if it tried to.

I'd be considered an oldfag on 4chan and try to stay away from the others, I'm glad in the fact knowing AH could never become /b/, it's continually moderated here for a start, calling m00t a fag doesnt get you banned and at least if you hit F5, most of the same threads will still be alive:p

That being said, /b/ is a pretty unique place, I would rather have it than not...

7chan's /b/ may not be the original but The Flood took over in 4chan and now it's full of **** (most of the time...e.g - the cancer). That's why the oldfags left and joined the 7 where there aren't endless mindless zombies, teenagers and pornography.

This is why 7chan and 4chan hate each other.

From this thread I just read up on this whole Boxxy thing, I hadn't actually heard of it until today.

You dont know much about the website. There are anonymous image boards, so yes they get abused from time to time. The moderators have always deleted those threads quickly and you generally never find it outside of /b/. There are forums on 4chan that you couldn't consider anything close to offensive. /b/ has become synonymous with 4chan, but it's like saying that the rest of boards is like After Hours. If 4chan really was a focal point of child porn then why is it that, unlike more obscure image boards, it doesn't have a board dedicated to Japanese lolicon manga for example? Simply put because that element isnt welcome there. The site upon which it was based, Futaba Channel, is one of Japans most popular websites. It also gets abused, but that doesn't make it a home for paedos.

The speed at which /b/ moves makes it easy for the sickos to post and hope to evade mods, but when it does get posted you'll find that the threads get reported straight away and for every post goading them on there's about 3 that will sage or report the thread. I cant speak for what it's like currently as I dont use it often, but when it was a smaller website a few years ago this was always the case.

The majority of the posters on /b/ are young adolescents who really shouldn't be using the website in the first place. I know that I hadn't even heard of the website until I was old enough to realise that there are real people behind the images that some spas find so funny. So yes you'll get young idiots who will post lulz because of the shock factor involved. It's clearly a website whose mean age is 16 which is apparent from the obsession with porn and tits.

No one would bother, as the saying goes "/b/ is not your personal army" so sleep safe tonight. That is unless you start uploading videos to youtube calling out "the haters", that usually sparks their interest.

Anyway my point is that the user base of 4chan is huge, it's hyperbole to think they're all paedophiles, most of them are just harmless anime nerds. But all that said I'm not defending the website as a bastion of all that is good, most of it drivel.
