Bought 2 tickets for Simple Minds at the SSE. One to be transferred to a friend who I don't see often. At the moment Ticketmaster aren't allowing transfers for this show - how normal is that and how likely is it that they will become transferable at some point?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 64 ✭✭mcdonut

Usually the transfer option opens at some point closer to the gig. Completely normal not to be able to transfer just after tickets have gone on sale

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,230 ✭✭✭Shakyfan

Seems tobe hit and miss! Bought Rick Astley tickets back in July for next March and was able to transfer them the same day (and that was presale). And Bad Manners went on sale this morning and there's a transfer option there too.

Olympia question… am I right that they if you arrive early they give you some type of wristband that guarantees you a spot up the front?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,465 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

    Depends on the gig/artist

From my knowledge you get a wristband if you're 'Standing' and can go in and out etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,005 ✭✭✭✭hynesie08

Yeah, there's a pit at the front, only about 75 capacity but great if you get one.

    Liberty Theatre question.

I bought a ticket for Eric Cantona (curiosity mainly but if he sings Kung Fu Fighting I'll be a happy chappy 😆) stage time is apparently 8.00 pm Would anyone have a guesstimate of his show time/length I can’t imagine he will be that long but would be nice to know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,928 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

If you look on setlist.fm once the tour starts (he has a few UK dates before here) then they often have the start time and duration there, would probably be roughly the same for all his shows

Ya, but it's very easy to jump the barrier. They don't have security lined up along the barrier cause not enough room for them in the Olympia. The security guys are generally along the side of the gig area. I've gotten into the "pit" several times. Just a little roll over the barrier when the lights are down low.

Has anyone used the split payment option on Ticketmaster to make 3 interest free payments over 3 months? Really wanting to go to Springsteen but not keen on paying it all out in one go, especially as there are a lot of things being announced at the moment to catch the Christmas present buying market!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,005 ✭✭✭✭hynesie08

Yeah, I've used klarna for a few big concert tickets, really handy option if you're good with finances.

Make sure you install the app and sign up first, you'll need to confirm ID and address with them since it's a finance agreement.

Got set up this morning! Was booking for Sting in Ormeau Park and thought I might as well do a trial run even though the cost was low! Straightforward enough to use.

What are Collins Barracks like for gigs?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 89 ✭✭sheepondrugs

hi going to bill bailey on Friday, tickets say 6.30. Just wondering is this doors open time or show time?

i have to collect someone at airport at 6. 3arena FAQ says they cant say for sure of show time.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,928 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

Ticket time is usually doors. They'll often have the actual show times up on Twitter the day of the show

What's the difference between transferring and selling a ticket you have on the Ticketmaster app ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,928 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

Selling relists the ticket on Ticketmaster, so a complete stranger could buy it (no guarantee) and TM will send you the money

Transferring sends the ticket to another person, like if you have a mate going with you or you sell the ticket some other way

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,759 ✭✭✭Fanirish

For a buyer, a seller offering to transfer a ticket could easily be a scam even with screenshots of the ticket.

but if it’s a ticketmaster resale purchase ticket is legit and guaranteed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,230 ✭✭✭Shakyfan

What's the closest to a gig that the transfer option on Ticketmaster would open? I need to transfer a Simple Minds ticket to someone for next Tuesday's Belfast show and it's still not available.

Travelmaster is gone some price now

Whats seats should be avoided in Croke park? And which ones would ye recommend? Normally I go for the pitch, but my young lad (12) wants to see Coldplay and under 14s not allowed on the pitch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,759 ✭✭✭Fanirish

at this stage you’ll have no choice. Just whatever comes up on resale

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 863 ✭✭✭corm500

Oh I know that, I just dont want to buy tix in the heat of the moment, and then find out they are horrible seats

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,759 ✭✭✭Fanirish

pitch and lower two level before yellow would be best. Would upper seating at all costs

Was looking at resale tickets before the Mitski gig on Saturday and single tickets available for 30/35/40 euro, compared to full price of 60+ euro.

How common would this be for gigs, to be able to source a much cheaper ticket on the day through TM?

I see 1 seat for Smashing Pumpkins for 100e, vs 350 when searching for 2 tickets

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,759 ✭✭✭Fanirish

Mitski was a fully seated so odd single tickets happened as I’m sure people dropped out of groups etc.

Single seated tickets harder to sell hence discount on resale as people know they don’t get it easy to sell.
see the odd single ticket for sold out shows

I'm taking my 9 year old daughter to The Killers in the 3Arena on Saturday night. I've never been to the 3Arena and wouldn't know Dublin the best so I'm not sure if there are taxis available nearby after? We're staying halfway between Herbert Park and the Aviva so its about a 30 minute walk according to google but I'm hoping that there might be a place to catch a bus or taxi nearish to the venue?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,759 ✭✭✭Fanirish

get the luas to Charlemont stop or you might get a taxi on the quays if you exit right at the encore

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,629 ✭✭✭LowOdour

Traffic policing will be in place around the venue so picking up a taxi on the fly might be difficult. Look to book a taxi outside the venue or maybe walk down towards one of the nearby hotels and hang around until you can get a taxi

There are tuk tuks also around the venue, which might be able to bring you out - but could be expensive and maybe not a great option for a younger child that time.of night

If you can walk over the East Link bridge to Ringsend after the concert, you could have a taxi prebooked to meet you outside Ringsend & Irishtown Community Centre... I've seen taxis around there on concert nights but no idea how many are prebooked. Enioy the concert!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,214 ✭✭✭bungaro79

Thanks a million guys for the replies. I think prebooking a taxi for across the river might be our best bet alright

Does anyone know if they use reusable cups in Malahide? I have a few leftover from Beyond the Pale that I could bring. If nothing else, they're easier to drink out of.

I have 4 tickets for Coldplay on my ticketmaster account.

They're for my wife and I, and another two friends. There is a good chance we will all be entering separately, or at least in two separate groups

Is there anyway to send everyone their own ticket, or do we need to all walk in together?

Woops, just saw that transfer only opens 48hrs before the gig. Will transfer the tickets thn

I haven’t been to RDS Simmonscourt in years. Are their food options available at all, burger stalls etc or should I plan to eat before hand?

Does anyone know where the accessible bathroom is in Vicar St? Is it a decent size for a power wheelchair user?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,759 ✭✭✭Fanirish

it’s in the corridor that runs directly behind the stage, you go past the merch booth to access it.
It’s standard size for a accessible bathroom

How come for gigs in Baseball stadiums they don't cover the 'home base' ?

Can someone explain how I can create toutless account? Just need to find Paul smith Tix

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,928 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

You can't, I'm afraid. They're closed to new users. I believe they were getting too many scammers, particularly around Taylor Swift and Coldplay

Best bet is probably just lingering on Ticketmaster as much as you can for take tickets. There's two there now for the Weds

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,928 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

    They're open again...

Anybody any advice about Ticketmaster and accessing accounts.

I logged in prompted by a reminder about a gig next Friday . Was told to update to a new password which I did . It authenticated and then proceeded to request an update again ..and again . After 6 gos I have given up and it looks like I am locked out of my account and all my tickets . No way to contact them ? Just useless FAQs and a bot.

Imagine if this was concert night ?!

Is this a scam or just usual Ticketmaster bollxx?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,864 ✭✭✭✭Goldengirl

Got it sorted ..rant over 😁

    It was usual TM bxx!

However that question of what would you do if it was gig night is still relevant ..the site is so unreliable .

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 5,793 Mod ✭✭✭✭Irish Aris

Yeah, a complete pain, various issues with both the site and the app. Earlier in the year I was trying for 20 minutes to open the app - in the end I had to uninstall and reinstall it.

Since then I save the QR code in Google wallet. Much more reliable.

Edit to add: I really miss the good old days where you could have a paper ticket...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,230 ✭✭✭Shakyfan

Ticketmaster do give you the option of buying a paper ticket for most shows but it's about a fiver extra. Last time I did it wasn't so bad because it was a fiver for all tickets but not so great if you're only buying a single ticket. That was a while ago so it may be a per ticket charge now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,864 ✭✭✭✭Goldengirl

Exactly . Can:t even manage e-tickets with any success now.

I had to uninstall the app myself twice and last time it let me down I didn't reinstall so I guess this is my punishment 😁

I will send the tickets to my partner-in -music or download to Google wallet myself in future ,

3arena - Standing Tickets: is the specific use of entrance 1 and 3 enforced as stated on the ticket?

I have two tickets in my account for this Monday's gig at the 3arena (Anthrax, etc). Both are standing, but one is for entrance 1, the other for entrance 3.

What's the easiest way to get both of us in?

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 5,793 Mod ✭✭✭✭Irish Aris

It's not strictly enforce, can depend on crowds. I've got in from entrance 3 while my ticket said entrance 1. I wouldn't expect that you would have an issue.

The other option would be to transfer one ticket to your companion, if they have a ticketmaster account.

    Uh, great to hear. Thanks
