yup as long as you comply with the law (stupid as it is) you can bring him :)

sorry meant to add that I was planning on going with Kai, my akita pup, but she's never been muzzled (nor do I even own one) Does the law state that Restricted Breeds have to be muzzled after a specific age (i.e 6 months & up) or do they have to be muzzled regardless of their age? I don't want to go and get refused entry or be nabbed by a warden

Dont forget that your dog must have a clean bill of health ie his needles, kennel cough free and you may be asked by a animal welfare officer to show your vet cert to prove this :)

Afaik Adser, they dont have to be muzzled until at least 6 months of age but im not 100% on it.

not sure how strict they're going to be adser but you might as well have a muzzle with you just in case they do pick you up on it

Cheers Andrea. I thought that myself but I went through the C.o.D act and all the ammendments yesterday and didn't see it anywhere :(

Might have to buy one to be safe....or pretend she's just an oddly shaped norwegian elkhound :p

When I was up at the National show centre last tuesday I saw some Akitas that I am sure the owners are planning to show at the expo(they said they were trainning for a show on the weekend), they didnt have a muzzel and I think if they do bring them to show then they wont have a muzzle also.:)

I am bring my pom, he is generally good with people but from what I hear there will be lots of little kids at this and I worry it will make him nervous with all the girls running over "oh he is just like a teddy awwww!" Hope my dog can hold it together.

Luckily there is always kids of some sort running around with my fellah, even if they are me! so he's fine that way! but he's a monster so kids tend to stay away :D

Nope, thats not for the Pet Expo, its for the IKC dog shows that are on this weekend. The classes are ringcraft for the dog shows that are on most weekend. Nothing to do with Pet Expo.

Thats a shame, hope the IKC dont steal away all the best show dogs, would like to see some at the pet expo.

thats bull , there is no age when they do not need one so under the RB act if your bringing a day old puppy to the vet and it is in public going say from house to car on the street you can still be fined for no muzzel:rolleyes:

    ps

one of the lads was in contact and was told it is being enforced

Was pretty good, the odd stand I didn't agree with but all over plenty to see.

After subjecting our dog to the KC vaccine the vaccination cards weren't even mentioned or asked for ...

Sorry I put him through that now, but he did get loads of treats to make up for it!

Was it packed? Our guy was meant to be in the canine games with DTI but cut his paw last week (not the pad) :( He's allowed walks on his lead and the vet said he could go and ramble around. I'd love to go and support our class but i don't want people to think i'm cruel having a pup with a bandaged paw at it!!

Had a brill day at the Expo today, I think the whole bring your own dog thing created a great atmosphere. It made people who might have just walked by each other stop and chat about their dogs. Brook wore her Dogmatic collar which passed as a muzzle so that was good, though I did see a white GSD x Husky cross unmuzzled and also a black Pit Bull, not sure how they go in? There is a poster on the way in of all the RB's like a wanted poster and a guy going up and down the queue making sure RB's were muzzled rolleyes.gif
Saying that though once inside people were so friendly, Brook was the only Rottie I saw, I had more than a few people come over and hug Brook telling me how much they loved Rotties. Other than some GSDs, one Pit Bull and a Rhodesian Ridgeback doing agility with DTI I didn't see any other RB's, don't know if other owners were put off by the muzzle thing or maybe it was just that it was a Friday and most people were in work.
I've been to the previous 2 Expo's but I have to say this one was my favourite. Stalls were great, people were friendly, all in all a good day! biggrin.gif

So true Irushe, having a dog there is a great ice breaker. There was a sea of Chihauaus (can never spell it) and great Danes as well.
Was one of the best pet expos so far though.

@tk123 people started to pour in a bit later around 3 ish but it wasn't so packed that you couldn't move around. Traffic getting there was good too but I can imagine tomorow and sunday will be really packed.

Have to say it was a great day overall. Myself and my puppy Dakota (Sib. Husky) had a ball.. 1st time there also, and will return. Even the socialisation aspect for the dogs is great!! :D

    • Registered Users Posts: 4,973 ✭✭✭Chris_Heilong

Yeah dogs had a great time and I didnt see one agressive one in the bunch. Even the Jack Russels were well behaved:D

It took me a while to find the free micro chipping and I almost gave up but found it in the end. Copuld not go to the cat exibit because I have my dog with me but from what I heard it was only 3 cats stitting around doing nothing. Liked the fact that people had ferrets with them I didnt know they were aloud to come but the dogs said hello to them anyway. Lots of free goodie bags;) and saw some great poms of all sizes(I had a Pom with me today too)

Didnt see anywhere that visitors could enter dogs into games. Will go again tomorrow.

      Hey,

Went today too, and lasted about an hour at it! Went to find some cute things to buy my jrt (who was very well behaved!) but I couldn't find much! Mollys.ie had nice stuff though. There were a lot of handbag and random stalls.. I wasn't asked for my vacc cert either.
