    Ultonia is Latin for Ulster (as in University of Ulster). He's in the Department of Psychology.

    He taught the class in Criminal Behaviour this year. Maybe you can appeal to his knowledge that capital punishment and custodial sentences don't reform offenders to get out of expulsion/suspension for getting drunk, shashing windows in College and punching a Guard?

    ...probably not. :D

    Hopefully he'll be more of a conservative RB McDowell/Sean Barrett type than a Tangney/Stokes liberal type. The college needs a bit of renewal and conservatism after what's gone on since the 60s. With a name like Trimble, I'd say he's exactly what's needed.

    Was the College totally dependent on the whims of the populist government then? No - it was an independent body, mediocrity wasn't tolerated and intellectualism wasn't hampered by a bunch of politicians with socialist tendencies harping on about "equality".

    You're right boyo. The bleeding heart liberal government of WILLIAM PITT THE YOUNGER forced TCD to admit Catholics in 1793. The place has went downhill ever since.

    Sounds exactly like what we need. A good clear-out of the mediocre middle class lounge-abouts that were given a golden pass to hang out in Willy Wonkas chocolate factory for four years courtesy of the Labour government. A sizeable percentage of the student population being sent down is, believe me, in everybody's interest.

    The first thing I'd do would be to ban cans and plastic glasses from the Pav and make the consumption of alcohol a respectable pursuit. I'd also have the buildings office acquire a nice a sherry cabinet for my office in No. 9. Nothing like a good glass of sherry around 3 pm to warm your belly and put the mind at ease for a winters evening in the library. Also comes in handy when dealing with distraught students.

    It's not particularly easy to get called in front of the JD you know. As in, instead of one the assistants. Most antics in college are ignored completely by security.
