I got them about a week ago by just logging in as normal and then searching active registration. They might show up there but I know it's not working for a lot of people anymore!:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 159 ✭✭Broken Strings

Did you just click on Active Registration and they popped up or did you have to click something else after that?

    I can't wait any longer :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3 anneapple

I clicked on Active Registration and there was a list of all my modules from semester 2 only. Under each module it says Grade Detail and next to that there was a link saying Available. Click on that & they should come up! It doesn't work for me anymore but it might for you!

Lads, does anyone know what time the results are supposed to be up tomorrow?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8 1988

    Hi all

No idea about the time for tomorrow Lia sorry.

Im shocked they are not up today! Usually they are online days before the actual date.

I would try tonight guys unless theres a new computerised system which only posts the results at a certain time. Im sick from waiting :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 159 ✭✭Broken Strings

I'm actually shocked aswell. Last year we got them 3 days early or something like that :(

Pathetic I know but I've actually been checking every hour today :o

I also have this thread bookmarked incase anyone replies saying they have theirs :P

I dont know whats worse :P

Lol we are all in the same boat.

Im worse than you - Im checking about every half hour.. the suspense is killing me!!

Texting friends who are at work letting them know they still arent up too :P

For their (CIT) own sake they should put them up early because tomorrow the phones will be manic with people ringing up with problems etc

At least before they were shifting their own workload across a few days

And I know for a fact the results were finalised last Tuesday so they have over a week to post them online. Hurry up already!!!

I just logged on again there and my results from last year are there now and they were not there 2 hours ago. Still no results from this year though.

Maybe this years results will be uploaded to the server at some stage tonight.

    Hopefully anyway :)

Does anyone know if your entitled to 1 pass by compensation per semester or 1 per year?

And when are the credits awarded for pass by compensation, because the credits due for my pass by compensation from semester 1 are still at 0.00 instead of 5.00

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,146 ✭✭✭mossy464

Hi all, anyone tell me what GPA in my results stands for?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8 1988

    It means Grade Point Average

Basically you add your results up and divide by the number of subjects to get your average result

Thanks, I couldn't figure it out!!!!

Another question, It says "Exemption(s) Granted"
Would this have something to do with the one subject that I failed?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8 1988

That means that you did modules in the past so you didnt have to do them again

They are just confirming that your exempt from doing these again

Nothing to do with a subject you failed.

Did you get under 35% in that one? Did it say C or F next to it? And did it say credit 5.0 or 0.0?

That make sense, I would have modules done from my trade.

Yip, 31% in Tech Maths 2 (I never did Tech Maths 1) and it had 0.0 after it but no C or F.

Sorry can someone explain to me again what Exemption(s) Granted means? I failed one module. It is next to my GPA.

    Straight from CIT:

Exemption(s) Granted means that you have passed at least one module of the current stage (or year) of your programme, and you are therefore exempt from further examination in those modules(s). However this does NOT mean that you have passed the stage overall - in order to progress to the next stage, you are required to repeat and pass any module(s) which you have failed, i.e. any modules which have zero (0) in the Credits Earned column of your online results page.
If you have modules with zero (0) in the Credits Earned column of your online results page, you should receive a separate email regarding entry for repeat exams. You should click on the link in that email to indicate your intention to repeat. You will then be enrolled for the repeat exams

    Yes I believe so...
    Section 5.11.2 Pass By Compensation
Where a stage consists of 60 credits, a candidate shall be entitled to pass the stage by compensation provided:
    - a pass mark has been obtained in modules comprising a minimum of 40 of the 60 credits presented.
    - no failed mark is more than 5% below the pass mark.
    - the surplus of the marks in the passed modules is at least double the deficiency in the failed modules. The surplus is to be weighted by the credit value of the module; and
    - all of the module marks presented are first attempt marks.

A candidate who avails of compensation as described above will be awarded the 60 credits for the stage. Availing of compensation to pass a stage has no implication for the classification awarded.

Thought it was computing alright. I think I know who you referring to. Never had him so can't say much.

I'd appeal it if you think you were unfairly marked.

By the way there are very good lecturers in the computing department. I wouldn't label the college crap from these few lecturers that aren't the best. Believe me, you hear of similar problems in UCC.

    Web Development stuff?

0% certainly sounds harsh. No point complaining though, you should take action if you think it's unfair.

it cost me 40 euro to appeal and still could come up sort handed and will he look at the work again or someone else look at the stuff i handed up?

I not sure exactly what happens but I can assure you there will be more than him involved. Probably external examiners.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,663 ✭✭✭Cork24

I love to Report him as every one thinks hes a dick,

evening one of the programming Teachers said now i know why no one knows anything going into his java script course

I'm sure he has been reported already.

Anyways as per forum chapter, we cannot talk about lecturers unfort.

I'd personally appeal it, especially if you got 0% in one and actually handed up something worth more than that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,663 ✭✭✭Cork24

I have to choices Appeal it as you said or redo the exam which is

    1. Uses JavaScript and tables to visualize numeric data
    2. Includes a mobile phone cost calulator
    3. Demonstrates that the student understands forms
    4. Demonstrates the use of cookies
    5. Includes ISBN-10 verification
    6. Includes EAN verification
    7. Includes French INSEE code verification
    8. Includes PPSN verification
    9. Demonstrates modifications to a page after it has been written using the Document Object Model

???? now this is just over the top as we were never tough this kind of stuff. so either way i may as well bend over for him now!

Someone else will look at the work however the appeal always goes through the lecturer that marked the exam to let them know that one of the students in their class was unhappy with the work.

They are then asked their opinion and to make a statement or something like that as to why they marked the way they did so he'll probably be prepared for it.

It will still be shown to an external examiner reguardless.

I too know who your on about because I'm in your class? :p Well I think I am because I'm in computing too :)
