Fancy the Kiwis to get something from this game. Don't think they'll be embarrassed anyway.

No excuse for Slovakia not to win this.

    Expecting big things from Hamsik.

Only real interest I have in this game is seeing if Hamsik is all he's made out to be or is he another over-hyped youngster.

They have players that play for some decent clubs and they also won their qualification group so I expect they must be decent. We have them in the Euro 2012 campaign in september so a lot of interest here.

Who am I kidding if I was at home I definitely would have watched it anyway :D

I'll probably end up following it on the live text.

0-0 written all over it, neither team should even be in the competition. 1 good player out of 22 won't make me watch it.

Well actually, they both qualified, so they should.

How in the name of god should Slovakia not be there ?

They won their qualification group and thus qualified automatically for the finals.

They overcame a group with Slovenia who knocked out Russia in the play-offs and got by the Czech Republic.

To say they shouldnt even be there is delusional and shows you do not know what it is you are talking about.

Just to correct the OP this match is on BBC and not ITV.

    Two red cards at least.
Because of the intense rivalry between the two teams?

2-1 New Zealand. Will look to be a draw, NZ will catch them off guard at some point. Slovakia look to be on the attack today, NZ might do something on the counter

What were the NZ players giving to the Slovakians

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

    NZ starting well here.

Both teams are starting quite positive, both looking to attack and not just pass it around

Who is the co-commentator on RTE? Stapleton? He's terrible whoever he is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

    Slovakia very disappointing.

They dont seem to be able to string more than 3 passes together without losing possession.

That's been happening so much this WC that I'm starting to think those bloody horns must be affecting the concentration. Have to say I'd have a hard time doing my job with that racket going on.

Players have been complaining about the noise saying they cannot communicate out on the pitch. Messi commented on it the other day. Not sure if that is the reason though.

Game certainly improved as it went on.

If I am Slovakia I would be launching in crosses left, right and centre as that keeper dont look very sure of himself.

Slovakia arent great, NZ workman like.

Hamsik doesnt seem to want the ball

Don't think I missed much by not watching the first half, turned the TV on at half time for the highlights (term highlights may be subjective!)

Going by this Ireland should not loose too much sleep in playing them for Euro 2012

New Zealand now at 40/1 with Paddy Power.

That is well worth a punt considering how they have been playing.

Big day for young Chris Wood. He's the young lad from West Brom isn't he?

I didn't even think he had featured for the West Brom senior team never mind playing at the WC!

Yep. Interestingly he's 1 of 2 playing in a high profile league in that NZ squad.

    Almost got the equaliser there.

Just reading on the WBA website that he has made a few senior appearances.

    1 of 2?!
