As Young and Camille attempt to resolve the hostage crisis with Kiva, Destiny suffers from power fluctuations and blackouts due to its proximity to a binary pulsar.

    Holy ****! That was brilliant.

The closing moments were brilliant but it dragged on through most of it I thought. Still great though. Sick now that its over for a while.

Hope TJ's baby is dead. Hope everyone else lives. Pity Camille didn't get a bullet.

I would imagine venting the atmosphere removed the brainwashing but would kill others/cause brain damage?? in normal circumstances, considering he thought it was still Rush he decided against it. Dont know why they didnt just shoot them all as they came through the gate.

Sorry but I cant stand watching an entire season to see it finish like that. There needs to be some sort of closure and a beginning to season 2. Plus I also resent having to wait to get an answer

You've never watched a Stargate season finale before, have you

I thought that was brilliant. Really enjoyed the double episode. Sucks that we have such a long wait till season 2, but i'm already looking forward to it.

Awh... it's ages until the next one now :( I liked it, wish there wasn't so much of a cliffhanger though.

And the names of the next seasons episodes kinda gives some of the plot away
    "Intervention (Part 3)"
    "Aftermath"
    "Awakenings"
    "Pathogen"
    "Cloverdale"
    "Trial and Error"
    "The Greater Good"
    "Malice"
    "Twin Destinies"
    "Resurgence (Part 1)"
    "Deliverance (Part 2)"
    "Visitation"
    "Alliances"
    "Hope"

I had a **MONSTER** catchup session last night, watched Ep. 12-20....phew!, best ep. of the lot was the flasback ep. with Rush and his wife + Daniel Jackson. I won't detail every ep. but i think the second half of the season was an improvement over the first 10 eps.

Season finale was pretty good, nice cliffhanger ending.

we should have a baby so by the end of the first episode, i know it sounds pure evil for the stargate verse but the baby dieing could work better in the long run, but i dont think anything that evil has been done on stargate

also episode 9 next season is called
    twin destinies,
    should we take that literally
    that they find another destiny,

i wonder if kiva will live, i hope she doesnt, we already have rush, young, and wray fighting for control you couldnt be adding another to it,

i must say i was dissapointed eli and chloe didnt find a bridge of some sort,

so who do we think is gonna die,
    all the military (extremely doubthfull)
    Chloe (could go either way)
    TJ (doubthfull)
baby (personally i cant see them doing it)
Greer and Scot (wouldnt mind of scot did, but unfortunatly greers fate is tied to his, and i want greer back)
    Kiva (god i hope so)
civilians (kill em all, id say, bunch of moaning ******ds)
LA (im gonna go with a 60-70% death rate, with the remaining being absorbed into the crew)

All I could think of in the last two minutes was "Run, fat boy, run!"

I enjoyed the ep, but it was a bit draggy in the middle act.

The baby will definitely die. I think it was more a little sub-plot in Season 1 that the writers put in to add to the drama, but never intended it to last past Season 1 as having a baby on board would just complicate plots and missions.

I wouldn't be surprised it that happened, this series is a lot darker than others in the Stargate universe (with a small u) / milieu / canon.

well it wasnt randomly added specifically for drama reasons, it was added as alaina huffman got pregnant around the time they started filming,

it did work out pretty well though, and it did ad to the drama which was executed pretty damn well i must say, not to much and not to little,

i was expecting a hugh deal like with teyla, now that was a baby story done baaaaadly,

i think the baby dieing would be good, i just cant see the writers doing it,

In all the years I have watched TV/films when a pregnant character is shot the baby never survives.Certainly not in a serious drama which this show seems to be.

The baby will die - imo, cost reasons...baby actors etc., it'd a dark show and a baby deing is very dark. I too was hoping Chloe and fat boy would discover some new tech, like robot warriors who pummel all the bad guys, or a new main bridge....something!

Chloe, waste of space...adds nothing to the show, let that litlle bed hopper kick the bucket!

Good finale. They did well bringing in multiple cliffhangers, none of which felt forced. I reckon Chloe's baby is gone - it's a dark enough show and having a baby onboard would be problematic (and not that interesting).

Also was wrong on my guess about the ship's computer being possessed - the binary star radiation answer was far geekier.

ended up reading one of her blogs there while browsing IMDB,
she said she was filming episode 2 or 3 of season 2 that week, so its safe to say she'll survive,
i hope they make her a main caracter, im sure chloe could move aside to accomodate

Probably down to having John Scalzi, a well-regarded sci-fi author, as a creative consultant. Alastair Reynolds recently blogged about how he was very pleased with seeing some accurate sci-fi on screen (particularly with relation to the astronomy side of things, which isn't surprising given he worked in the aerospace industry).

If the baby doesn't survive then its a serious statement that they are breaking away from the sterotpical SGx where everything gets wrapped up with a happy ending within about 42-43 minutes.

Also agreed on removing Chloe - she doesn't add a lot to the show and there are other characters that should be getting more screen time. Shows that try to share screen time amongst too many characters doesn't do well.

BSG eliminated characters with great effect!!! For example: When the cheifs missus got airlocked is was pure class!!
    • Greer/Scott/Blone hot chick to survive.
    • Baby won't make it.
    • One of two more Jablonski's (Red Shirts) to die.
    • Half of the Lucian Alliance will be gone but the leader and musley dude will survive (again some red shirts will be added and can be killed in season 2 sometime)

Musley does look like he's being positioned for a significant role next season. Might not be for long but I doubt he'll get snuffed out casually.

Fantastic ending I thought. I agree with the general consensus on Chloe although I do think she works very well with Eli's character, who is developing very well. It's also interesting to have a character there who has no purpose to serve, and they don't pretend otherwise.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

But Eli now knows Chloe knows he loves/fancies her...."of course you do", she's never gonna go there. He must know this by now, she serves NO purpose any longer...the Chloe/Eli thing can't and won't go anywhere.

It would be an insult to the fans if she hooked up with him, in real life she never would...SGU is supposed to be more real and gritty, in the real world nice guys don't get the hot chick.....kill her off.

do they have similar fan bases i wonder,

still the move to tuesday can only be good, i cant see a downside TBH, but id say syfy will be expecting a fairly substantial increase in viewing figures, and if not they might not renew for season 3

I thought that was a fairly fantastic ending. In sticking with the SG tradition of cliff hanger endings though, that was a bitchin' cliff hanger. Plenty of scope for a few main characters to die, which it needs, *cough* Chloe *cough. Sure you're fine, but you're useless and somewhat annoying, so it's bye bye for you. I actually think TJ could be a gonner too, but that would be a big axe to yield. The baby is definitely gone though, we don't need another child adopted by the crew ala Voyager.

Also thought that Eli would find some cool weapons or something, but of course he didn't. That probably would have been a bit too much, especially with his saving Mary-Jane Chloe storyline.

    Roll on part 3...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,291 ✭✭✭meep

hope the baby does survive, only to see the classic episode where there's a mix up with the stones and Jack and the Baby swap bodies.

We see adult jack at SG HQ floundering and dribbling on the floor while a baby walks around destiny cracking jokes and giving orders.

    I'd pay to see that!

Same. And i think he is inside Destiny somewhere, like in the SG1 episode "the Sentinel" where they had this planet defending weapon that needed a human "sacrfice" to operate. Possibly the Ancients hadnt adapted sufficient AI programming at that time and had ghosts manage their larger equipment.......

Thought the series picked up towards the end alright. Last 2 episodes were pretty good. Alot in the middle were disappointing.
