Really good to hear. That side of town really needs a boost.

The small post office is moving to the Gaelic Stores.
Was handy for beating the queues in the main PO.

Saw that when i was in there on Friday, strange decision, is it a cost saving thing?

Don't know. Mostly empty except on Monday and Friday, when you couldn't get in or out of it.

Probably a good idea as it moves the PO nearer to where people live - although from my point of view it won't be as handy anymore.

Leaves another empty building in the town.

True, but there are too many retail premises in the town empty or otherwise. The old PO could easily be converted back to accommodation like the former Cancer charity shop just above the former Auto Parts shop.

Speaking of which, another business has just closed on Castle Hill.

Yet another barber's shop has opened on Court Street and while it's good to see a new business we must surely have reached saturation point on the hair cutting front?

The second photograph would make one despair - how away is the bin from the seat?

While I say fair play to these lads for trying I think they're on a hiding to nothing. I've walked past it a few times and haven't seen a single customer in the place.

Must be at saturation point for barbers.
Another new place on the top of Weafer St that appears mostly empty. Not a barber left in Turkey.

The lads on Court St. don't look Turkish to me. I'd have said Irish?

That's Apo at the top of Weafer street. He used to work with Tom in Turkuts years ago but set up his own place in Gorey. Really good barber.

I've often wondered about these barbers who only seem to employ nationals from outside the EU. I go to one in Gorey and in all my time going (several years) it is always a new person cutting my hair, I have yet, apart from the owner, to see the same staff member on two occasions and they always seem to be the same nationality. The suspicious sceptic in me smells a rat.:)

Sound fella, great barber and that's why he's busy. He said Gorey was too manic, people up there didn't understand that he might actually want a day off, Enniscorthy people are more easy going. That said,a lot of lads still drive from Gorey for a haircut as they rate him so highly.

No, but then again rates are generally too high throughout the town and are a major disincentive to opening any shop. The only retail businesses that seem to hang on in town generally seem to own their own premises.

Seems like a lot for a hole in the wall, regardless of it being a charity.

New Centra/filling station open down near Blackstoops.

It'll actually service the whole Greenville area and the new housing development being built out that way. Plenty of business to keep it going.

Nah, maybe he'll get some lunch time stuff from the few remaining businesses on the old road, everything else is sewn up by the Greenville Stores.

Protesters outside house where recently released sex offender supposedly shacked up. All kicked off, travellers vs. protesters showdown before 14 cop cars and armed response unit showed up.
