Could anyone who did the Merchant of Venice explain to me "how the drama was created" by Shakespeare? I've just seen this question and don't know how to answer it. Thanks.
"Drama" in this case.. I'd use it as a synomym for "tension". So the drama would be created, specifically in Act IV Scene I (The Trial Scene) by the use of dramatic irony (Portia's disguise not being known to anyone other than herself and the viewer of the play), how the scene seemed to play into Shylock's hands, the uncertainty of Antonio's fate etc. etc.

I would love it if those predictions came up... I'd be absolutely sorted!
What are they based on, could I ask, besides my hopes and dreams? :D

Just read in Revise Wise: "You may be asked to read and compare two poems in the unseen poetry section."

Am I the only one who didn't know this could come up? :pac:

My English teacher mentioned it and it's been in the exam papers but you could always avoid that question :D
I just used Seamus Heaney with Mid-Term Break and Blackberry Picking, even though I can bet that the examiners are sick to death of him. I honestly don't like his poetry but if it'll get me marks... :pac:

Just my luck Ill get some old women sitting in a rocking chair sipping tea correcting mine and she'll have a heart attack reading it..

Lol, there's another version where it goes "the scraggy wee pests". Maybe you'd be better of quoting that instead. :D

Poetry - Language used in the poem/the topic
    Fiction - Theme/Strongest relationship
Drama - Strongest character/ A character who has hatred of another charater

If these came up I'd be sorted! I'd do:

Poetry - the topic - "Limbo" by Edward Kamau Brathwaite
Fiction - Theme - Prejudice (with To Kill A Mockingbird you could say so much for that!)
Drama - Strongest character - Friar Laurance in Romeo and Juliet (strongest as he's the puppeteer of the play)

If They come up I'll do:

Poetry - Language used in the poem: Dulce et Decorum Est
Fiction - Theme - Prejudice (as well! =P)
Drama - Character with hatred of another character - Shylock (pretty obvious!)

    paper 2 was hard.
the poetry and drama questions were completely different to the ones we'd studied :/
instead of tension we did love and hate, and for the poem we'd done an airish airman forsees his death by yeats, so there was no opinion given by the poet :(

    It went alright..
Not as well as what I would have liked!
I knew I was going to find paper two hard so I was trying to get as many marks as I could from paper one!
As long as I get at least a C I'll be happy!

Unseen Drama - Hard but I managed.
Studied Drama - Both questions weren't great for my drama, I tried the stage production one. :\
Unseen Poetry - Easy! Went really well.
Studied Poetry - Question 1 was really suited to my poem, so went well.
Unseen Fiction - Nicest question on the paper
Studied Fiction - Alright, not my best one.

Overall, it was an alright paper! I'm happy with it.

I thought the unseen drama was alright, Im content with it.
Studied drama I didnt really like, would have prefered a theme or relationship on characters that didnt include stage production.. We never learned stage production:confused:
DIdnt undderstand that unseen poem at all, thought your man was a dying druggie... Happy with the studied poem and the unseen fiction im content with. Studied fiction was rushed..

Overall my hand hurts bad.. And the guys phone started vibrating the in the middle of it, and by god he took his time handing out extra paper!

    Unseen Drama: Just about managed.
Studied Drama: w00t tension and Merchant of Venice
Unseen Poem: meh, I think I did OK
Studied Poetry: Dulce Et Decorum Est + serious message = win
Unseen Fiction: A kid talking to Tony Hawk? Good question, but not good passage.
Studied Fiction: To Kill A Mockingbird gets five stars.

Best English Exam I could have hoped for IMO. Conflict & Merchant of Venice FTW.
TBH I didnt understand at all what the unseen poem was about. And the full-growth picture of the guy in the middle was very annoying.

Was the poem about a guy who feared for when his child grew up and left him and he would be old and alone?
