    Hi,

Does anybody have any info on getting the GAA games on 4:2:2?

Do you know what satellite position RTE are using this summer, or will they be using more than one?

Is there any website that has updates each weekend?
Or is it a case of using a blind scan on the day?

Which between the PC card SkyStar 2 or AzBox is better purchase for 4:2:2?

Put "GAA" into the Search Box at the bottom of the page on this link to see previous feeds. The site is updated all the time but note times are CET.

    http://www.satelliweb.com/index.php?section=livef

RTE mostly on 1 West, and a bigger dish helps, I have 1.1 m. The AzBox is great for feeds and with other people reporting the feeds you don't really need blind scan. I never used a computer card.

Here's the link so it searches for GAA automatically
    http://www.satelliweb.com/index.php?section=search&q=GAA

How soon before the match will you know what frequency it's on?

I have a 1.1m dish also, but I only have a vu+ duo so no 4:2:2 straight to the TV. I'm going to try using TuxVision to stream to my PC over the weekend.

Do you know if it is possible to add a splitter to the cable so two receivers can control a DiseqC motor? Thinking of getting an AzBox:D

Msk - premier sports are transmitting rte coverage on astra 28.2

With 4:2:2 you can watch all the games live that aren't been televised live on RTE or anything else. These unencrypted streams would be broadcasted back to base in RTE studios to be edited, before showing the highlights.

Usually loads of time. As you can see on the link the Meath Offaly feed fired up at 1136 for 1400 throw in. I put this on record and when I came back the Louth Longford game was being fed, not shown anywhere live.

Definitely recommend the AzBox if you have any interest in feeds. You could probably loop the two receivers together, not too sure if that's what you were asking.

What AzBox do you have? There seem to be a few good deal on ebay. €240 including delivery for the Elite HD

Do you know if you can control the DISEqC motor through a loop through on a second receiver?

I have Azbox premium plus. No problem with 422 also can record and watch at the same time.

Quali-tv is another option which would be a lot cheaper but can't get hd feeds.

Read up on the Azbox before jumping in, some people are not that happy with it, I think its a good box but not everyone does.

A PC running DVBViewer connected to the appropriate satellite will work provided the right codec is installed. I use the elecard codec which is not free but it does have a trial version which allows you to test it before buying.

I have just ran a test for 4:2:2 using my Vu+ Duo.
I checked satelliweb.com and found a eastern european kick boxing match on at the moment.
I entered the satellite and transponder details and found a single channel.
I checked the channel on the Vu+ Duo on the TV and could only get the audio and a blank screen.
So I installed VLC player 1.0.5 on to my PC and opened the channel through the Vu+ duo web interface on my PC.
It came up straight away, no problems. The stream seems a bit interlaced but very watchable. Way better than the football streams you would see online. No commentary at all just the fight.

    Can you answer some questions?

    1) Is dual tuner working properly on the Premium Plus i.e. record on sat and watch terrestrial?

    2) Can it do both MPEG2 and MPEG4 4:2:2?

    3) Can it blindsearch? Both DVB-S and DVB-S2?

    1) yea it works ok, ive tried it a few times but ive 2 satellite tuners in it, i presume it would be the same with a sat and dtt tuner.

    2) havent got any mpeg4 422 feeds but the mpeg2 feeds work ok, better than the qualitv. other forums report mpeg4 feeds work ok.

    3) i havent used the blind search as mostly i look up satelliweb for feed lists.

i havent had time to get the most out of this box for the last couple of months ive had it. its the first linux box ive used, had a humax 5400 before. i was going to go for other dual tuner pvr's but none can do 422 so thats why i went for this.

im glad iwaited for the plus as if id bought the elite or premium and they cant watch and record at the same time i wouldnt be happy but the plus i think is ok.

i think most of the bad press comes from people who bought the earlier models and didnt get what was originally promised in the ads and i wouldnt blame them for complaining. i'm happy enough with it, it probably wont do everything its says it will but it does all i want.

just found this on another forum about the blind scan.

"i've got both boxes and in my opinion the scan speed of the axbox+ is a bit faster than the spiderbox. i had it scanning 4 sats (28.2e, 23.5e, 19.2e and 13e) last night and it took about 10mins. doing a cable scan took around 15mins.
tuners in both boxes are very sensitive. not much between them. and, it is possible in the azbox to define the frequency range

however, i'm very happy with both boxes. would difficult choice between the 2"

i edited out the bits that are not allowed here.

Hi guys, can you confirm that the feeds are shown FTA?
Thanks, was hoping to get the Meath-Laois game this weekend and don't want to move a 1.1 dish in case I can't get it.
    Thanks in advance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,903 ✭✭✭Apogee

The feeds are unencrypted but they are in a transmission format which 99% of FTA receivers cannot display. Only a few (e.g. AZBox, Quali TV) can as well as PC based DVB-S cards.

Thanks for clearing that up Apogee, off to get the azbox so!

yea, they have been available so far this year on 1w and 37w anyway. Satelliweb should have them up around the throw in time of the match.

If you search for GAA in the feed records section on Satelliweb you will see the old frequencies. Scan for them as they usually use the same frequencies and just change symbol rates (6111 or 6666).

Excellant news thankyou for the help, unfortunately I wasnt ready equipment wise on saturday for the galway game and chances are all further games this season will be televised but I'm gonna set up anyway and be ready for next year, wonder if the technomate tm5402hd is capable of 4:2:2 off to do some research... I also read that almost all pci cards will work, Maplin have 1 for 65 euro, I was very tempted to run in on saturday to get it but I was too commited work wise to do it. Anyone know if that card works?
    Regards.

I was reading somewhere that you can watch th 4.2.2. Streamed through vlc media player on your pc. Go to the channel on your sat box, then put it's ip in to your browser and select the channel and stream it with vlc

    Dead right Fish fingers..

I know the linux boxes are capable of doing it anyways :D

Stream to VLC and unravel the 4:2:2 feed :)

bearing in mind the majority of the posts in this thread are from last year, have there been any updates re boxes, what is best receiver to use for simple stand alone operation without the pc, is the AZ box easy to get working on this.
    Cheers guys.

the azbox will do stand alone 4.2.2 transmissions.

the qualitv receiver does them as well.

i have both and the azbox is far better and easier to use, the menus on the qualitv are terrible. the azbox has had a lot of bad press about what works and doesnt. the 4.2.2 feeds work and as long as you dont expect it to be as good as a dreambox then thats the box to go for. the cheapest option is probably the elite (i dont know the price of the newer models or if they do 4.2.2).

ebay has a few on all the time, theres one from canada for around 140 euro on there now, dont know what the post is though

Here we go again lads. Never did manage to get around to doing this but was looking online for receivers yesterday, I came across some quali tv boxes really cheap but from what I can gather they don't do the hd broadcasts, is that correct. The only az boxes I could find we're the new type and couldn't see mentioned anything about 4:2:2 pic display, anyone got any ideas. Sorry to drag up an old thread.

    Azbox HD premium and premium+
    Azbox hd elite
Azbox ME* } messy as via Aztrino 1.6
    Azbox Mini ME* }
    Quali-tv qs1080ir

    All do H264 4:2:2.

All of the above boxes are discontinued. Opensat sold Azbox to a Chinese company. Mixeshop sell a clone of the premium+ for apx €125 last time I checked.

Any Enigma Box (Vu+/Gigablue etc) can see the feeds and then you can use the Webif function to display them on a laptop/PC using VLC.

    Hi

I got an original az premium plus on ebay.de for €104 +17 shipping.

You need to ask the seller to send it to Ireland first as most only send stuff to Germany
