Make sure when you get it threaded you get a good job done by a reputable gunsmith. I have seen some very bad jobs done. I use an ASE Ultra .30 as it will go on any rifle that is .3 of an inch or smaller.
It is Stainless steel and not very heavy.
There are cheaper Moderators on the market.

Main point the thread job and recrown are very important as the crown is a critical component for accuracy

If you find that you want a short handy Mod they are the job.

Very simple construction, no raw steel to rust, I have seen other mod's red rotten with rust inside. I have it 3 years no issue, I can get 3 shots into a 1/2 a 1 cent piece sized hole with it on.

Great job at reducing recoil and gets more shooting as the rabbits don't disappear when you use a mod:D

ya great gun but have not go alot of shooting with it yet need to quieten it for a couple of reasons first being as you said there may be a field full of rabbits but you will only get one the second reason is half the parish knows your out shooting and "there's always one" that wants to save the bunnies or foxes or whatever and comes to give out to you or calls the fuzz so if I can get it down in the decibel range I can use it more places how much was your ASE and where did you get it

J McBride in athlone I think it was €350 but I can't remember as I bought it as part trade with another rifle and I bought lightforce lamp same night.
They are the smallest mods I have seen to date.

I had a woman tell me once that I was a barbarian for shooting poor little bunnies, she did not have to pay the vets bill for the cows that hurt there legs in rabbit burrowed fields

I have used the Ase, T8 and more recently the Wildccat mod all on centrefires.

The Ase Utra for my .308 was brilliant. Reduced both noise and felt recoil by a noticeable amount. The Ase Utra S7 for .308 cal was around the €325 mark, but the smaller S5/Jet-Z can be got for around €260 or so. There was no significant drop in point of impact out to 300yds with it.

The T8 was my least favourite. The drop in point of impact was up to 7 inches and that was only at 200 yds. I cannot testify to build quality as i got shot of it after 4/5 months. I did not like the "tin like" echo after each shot. Probably due to the make up of the outer layer of the T8. Noise and recoil were both reduced so no real problem there. Prices should not exceed €265.

The wildcat is only new and i'm still learning about its quirks. It has a plastic/ceramic outer layer so there is not "tin" echo after firing. Recoil is reduced and noise seems more reduced than the other two, but i could be wrong. It is definitely as quite. The thing i like about the Wildcat is its ability to completely break down, both for easy cleaning and also to change the inner rings and change the caliber from .308 to .223 or anything in between. These inserts can be bought seperately, but it means one mod and 2, 3, 4, 5 inserts and you are covered for all rifles you own. Handy. Prices are running around €300-ish.

As with all things shooting its a personal choice. I don't like T8's but others swear by them. I know a lad that sold an Ase Utra and bought a Wildcat. Suppose the best advice is to go to a range or meet other lads with different mods. See them firing and judge for yourself which gives the best performance for the best value.

One other thing. Shop around. I've noticed there can be a HUGE difference in mod prices from different dealers for the same mods.
