Sail training courses

Arklow sailing club will be holding a series of training courses , the initial courses will be designed to give candidates a basic understanding of the fundamentals of sailing .
On completion of the course the candidate can expect to know how to put up sails and rig a small sailing boat and how to steer, tack , jibe, get off and onto a pontoon or mooring , anchor , etc .
The course will include safety requirements for putting to sea, in sail or power boats , safety equipment , life jackets , floatation devices , flares, distress signals , basic understanding of how to operate a radio in an emergency.

Its hope that the course will encourage candidates to on and do further sailing course’s including ISA certification and also to be competent to crew on one of ASC’s many crusing boats
The courses will begin in mid June
