Welfare fraudsters

I know we have our own welfare fraudsters and they should imo opinion be cut off when they do it.But in actual fact they are given leave to keep their money and pay a tenner a week or something like that. Shouldn't it be cut off and tell them get a job and get lost?
    What about non nationals?
I had heard of some of the scams been carried out here in Ireland and also in UK but i didn't realise how easy it was:eek:

People are actually selling their pps numbers to non Eu nationals and they are claiming in two different place under two different names at a time and working also.
I saw it on prime time but cant find the link:(

For our own nationals prison time or cut all benefits for non nationals who do that shouldn't they not be deported? And for any crime? And those who actually sell their pps numbers shouldn't they be banned from returning to Ireland and charged?

One woman had defrauded a hundred and thirty thousand from the state:eek:

Ideally anyone with criminal convictions = no dole, no help from the state if you are contributing to its demise

(OK - Criminal Conviction in the last 5yrs - to stop liberal pr1cks and their ..... "but what if they turned their lives around" sh1te)

personally - the entire judicial system needs an overhaul - as does the public sector, HSE, Dail/Oireachtas, taxi regulation, gardai/legal procedures.... we have a choice of change the way the country is run or accept we live in a faulty system and slowly block/stop/punish those using/abusing the loopholes.

Thanks for the Youtube clip, OP. That Nigerian lady scammed 130,000 large off the Irish taxpayer.

When asked if she plans to pay the cash back, she says "How can I?".

By getting a f*cking job. Thats how.

Why are these dole cheats still in my country? They should be deported, with haste.

You know how expensive it is to deport these people..why shoudl the taxpayer pay for that too?
Lock them up and make them work the plane fare home..swinging a pickaxe or sewing mailbags..a few years of that and THEN deport them.
These shysters are terrified of doing a days work.

But Degsy you are going to pay for them in prison then also they get money when they get out and we are over flowing and will have no where to put our own criminals and they are free to do it again.Breathe :o
So in long run deportation costs less;)

90 large, I believe. Then you have to bribe the customs officials to take them back.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the PPS (RSI) number that you use to make a welfare claim is the same PPS (RSI) number that you use for paying Tax/notifying the Revenue when you get a job, so your PRSI, etc. can be collected and recorded.

    The same, unique number.

I mean, how hard can it be to link up the 2 databases (welfare and taxation) and at least catch some of them?

Sure, if you have one number for welfare and you've bought/rented another for work, you'd need another system to catch you out, but c'mon!

Well, then we'd just catch the ones that are paid legitimately, with that. There were a few of them in those videos.

Remember a few years back, when gardai were stopping motorists, checking for dolesters on their way to work? That system could have freed up a few gardai for catching other criminals.

They are being paid cash in hand, no tax involved. I would say a lot of employers do it but I wouldn't know the exact number or estimated one for that matter.

It's amazin' how the usual suspects are quiet when evidence like the YouTube clips are presented. Generally, there is the accusation of "Racist' and 'StormTrooper' if you dare bring up such issues, or 'Sur, aren't the Irish doing it?' (which isn't relevant to the OP's original question).

    Really?
Not the people who sit around at home all day waiting for a 40k job in IT to be dropped in thier laps?
If it wasnt for the public sector there's be no tax revenue at all to pay the poxy dole..the workshy professional students would have to get off thier arses and get a job then.

You know better than that, where are these jobs to come from Degsy? They don't exist for everyone, only a lucky portion will land jobs these days. Until that problem is fixed, people will be on social welfare if they want to be or not.

Surely I have the right to not get screwed over, no?

Positive right- the right to something. (education etc.)
Negative right- the right from something.(torture etc.)

Logicaly the right to social welfare comes before the "right" not to be decieved.

Most people bang on bout the number of welfare fraudsters when the number is actually quite quite low. And as in any system it equates for a certain level of this. However, we don't have the safety gaurds to keep the number low where it is only those who invest a living into fraud who are difficult to catch.

Give them no job-turn to crime.

And welfare is an institution for most except in time of recession.

They must have had jobs to pay their way through college, I'm sure not all of their parents payed for them. Those sitting around waiting for a job to fall into their laps are the reason why a different approach should be taken by the DSW, there's too many pen pushers and not enough people out and about making sure people are looking for work

In a lot of cases the parents paid for everything.

Some people also get two PPS numbers and claim the dole with one while working with the other. Dealt with in the Prime Time video AFAIK.

I really don't care if you're Irish or foreign, if you are fraudulently claiming Social Welfare you should be dealt with severly (i.e. inprisonment and any subsequent payments being withdrawn/severly reduced as a punishment).

The nationaltiy of the person is irrelevant.

Right, then you link the databases on 1. name and 2. address (& possibly 3. date of birth).

Anybody with the same name and address on both systems warrants a closer look - it could be a legitimate father and son (and maybe granddad too, if 3 names turn up at the address) or it could be a big coincidence or it could point to a scam, especially if the D.O.B is the same.

If the scammer keeps one PPS at the Mam's house and the other PPS at the Dad's house, it's more work but still do-able.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,555 ✭✭✭✭AckwelFoley

Clearly the finest solution to this problem is to kill all students that fail to get a taxpaying job in this country within 2 weeks of finishing their education.

We could then sell their organs on to worthy taxpayers that are waiting on them... getting them back working quicker and recouping some of the cost of their education.

    Seriously.. this is win..all win

Watch the video, the middle aged Irish reporter manages to walk in and get a new PPS number without any problems. Something is severely wrong.
